Fifth Floor Common Room, Sunday evening

After getting back from Colorado, Bruce got some dinner from Ching Tai. Unfortunately, they gave way too much food, so he set up in the common room. If people were hungry, they could take. He could have done that and gone to his room with his food, but he figured that would prevent him from seeing how other people were reacting to the gender switch. And really, his want to be left alone was easily overruled by his curiosity.

While he was in the common room, though, he wasn't touching the TV. It would end up stuck on the Style Network or something if he did. He could deal with being a girl, but that was asking too much.

[OOC: Open like a gender-neutral common room.]

"But how?" Scully demanded, gesturing downward, red spiking up across her face. "An entire reversal of x and y chromosomes overnight? I still have the same bruises from skiing, but my gender's switched! How is that even possible?"

...and if this was possible, could someone, somewhere connected to the island just reverse her de-aging as easily? Please?

Scully sighed, then wandered over to poke at the food from Ching Thai. "Sharing?" she asked, rubbing at her face. She had stubble coming in. Strange. She studied Bruce. "You make an attractive girl, too. I can see a resemblance, but I'd never guess you were the same person."

"I hope my clothing doesn't give anything away about me." It was an Annapolis sweatshirt that Bill had sent her, and sweatpants of Mulder's that had gotten bundled in with her things. "Except 'hi, I've just grown half a foot and nothing I own fits me.'" She took a box of sweet-and-sour chicken and started to carefully chopstick it up to her mouth. "It does seem random. And a few people didn't change at all!" Why couldn't she have gotten that lucky?

"That would do it," Scully observed. She took another bite of chicken. "This is going to be over tomorrow, right?"

Scully gave a relieved smile, then went over to the fridge to get a drink. "I've had enough weirdness mess with me, I don't think I could take this lasting the length of one of those invasions." She tilted her head, a look that was a little too feminine on her current form. "So, what do you think of being a girl? And has this happened around her before?"

That brought Scully up short, remembering Dru turning into a cat. "Point. That hasn't happened to me yet either. Fairly certain I don't want it to." She sighed, looking down at herself. "I don't find this repulsive, just-- alien."

Scully cheered up a little. "I could take notes. It would have to help the next time I'm dealing with my best friend."

Scully toasted him with her Diet Coke and admitted, "My balance was too far off for me to want to attempt anything athletic this morning. Did you manage not to wipe out in an unfamiliar body?"

Scully grinned and shook her head. "Where did you get clothes? Or are those your own?" she asked, curious. "I think I need to go shopping... especially if there's any chance this might happen again." Preparation: the sign of a true Girl Scout.

"Smart," Scully commented. "I was too freaked out to think of it. Or I would've bought some at the hotel." She shook her head, and daintily ate more rice. "I'm just glad no one at the hotel thought to comment. Imagine if this had happened while we were at home."

Her mother would never have stopped blinking.
