Fifth Floor Common Room, Sunday evening

After getting back from Colorado, Bruce got some dinner from Ching Tai. Unfortunately, they gave way too much food, so he set up in the common room. If people were hungry, they could take. He could have done that and gone to his room with his food, but he figured that would prevent him from seeing how other people were reacting to the gender switch. And really, his want to be left alone was easily overruled by his curiosity.

While he was in the common room, though, he wasn't touching the TV. It would end up stuck on the Style Network or something if he did. He could deal with being a girl, but that was asking too much.

"I think the island sometimes decides it hates us," Karla said with a fairly impressive bitch-face. "No one knows why or how. It just...happens."

And that, George could accept. The entire universe appeared to hate her, lately. No reason the island shouldn't get in on the fun.

"Okay," she said. "So the island hates us, and now and then fucks with us for its own amusement."

That made a surprising amount of sense.

"It might not always hate us?" Karla said, thinking of the nice things the island did from time to time. "Ender calls it 'whimsical.' But, yeah. Definitely fucks with us because it thinks its funny."
