Fifth Floor Common Room, Sunday evening

After getting back from Colorado, Bruce got some dinner from Ching Tai. Unfortunately, they gave way too much food, so he set up in the common room. If people were hungry, they could take. He could have done that and gone to his room with his food, but he figured that would prevent him from seeing how other people were reacting to the gender switch. And really, his want to be left alone was easily overruled by his curiosity.

While he was in the common room, though, he wasn't touching the TV. It would end up stuck on the Style Network or something if he did. He could deal with being a girl, but that was asking too much.

"And you are--" Karla pulled away and glanced down. "Still wearing a skirt?"

That hadn't been what she'd originally meant to say, something about vastly preferring the regular Raven but...skirt?

"I do not own any pants," Raven said. And she was rather glad of it now, because hugging Karla, even in boy form, was starting to have a strange physical effect on her body.

If she was curious about what was happening, she could always go ask Ben! He was great for these kinds of conversations, really. "I bet it's more comfortable that way," Karla said enviously. "This way you don't have something constantly rubbing up against your--uh."

Yes. Your 'uh.' Use your words, Karla.

"I feel...vulnerable," Raven said unhappily. "Exposed." She shifted uncomfortable, adjusting her skirt. There were probably a few more adjectives she could use right now.

Karla had several choice words for the entire experience. Unfortunately, most of them were unsuitable for polite company.

"I'll be glad to be back to myself tomorrow," she said plaintively. "I'm not panicking as much as I did last year, but only because I know it will end tomorrow."

Guess who was going to haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate tomorrow!

"Yes," Raven said, still fidgeting. Boy's bodies were stupid! "I will be much more comfortable in my true form. The physical properties of this one are distressing."

"Yes," Karla said fervently. She leaned in to whisper, "I had to ask Ben about some...issues...I faced this morning. Stupid male parts."

"Issues?" Raven whispered back. "Discomfort? What did he say?"

[glacial_queen]

"That they were completely normal and males dealt with them all the time," Karla replied, sounding quite disgruntled. "Which explains why they're all insane."

[trigons_child]

Raven wasn't entirely naive; she worked at Dite's shop, after all. "All the time?" she repeated, eyes wide. "And then they...?"

She didn't have to make a flaily hand gesture for that, did she?

"Sometimes it can go away on its own?" Karla said. "Or they go to the bathroom. I guess that helps, at least in the mornings."

If the Darkness was merciful, it would grant Karla never bore a son. Because then she would try to explain things to the poor boy and it would just be awful.

"Perhaps we can find something at Lady Aphrodite's shop," Raven said thoughtfully. "Something instructional?"

[glacial_queen]

"I'll look tomorrow," Karla said with a nod. "So we can be prepared for the next time this happens."

Because clearly, clearly, this would all be over with by tomorrow.

"I have no classes tomorrow," Raven said. "I would be happy to come by to help." In her usual form, because yes, this would be over then.

"Maybe one day, we'll do a seminar at 'Dite's," Karla joked. "'How to Deal With Troublesome Male Bits.'"

Raven adjusted her skirt again so such troublesome things would not be so obvious. "I do not understand how they walk like this," she complained.

"It's right there!" Karla agreed, scandalized. "Just there! How do they ever close their legs, either."

[trigons_child]

"Especially when it is" -- Raven flailed her hands -- "stiff."

[glacial_queen]

"Plus, their balls just hang there," Karla griped. "It's like I have a grandfather clock between my legs. Who can concentrate like that, I ask you?"

Raven couldn't help but blush at Karla's colorful metaphors. "That is what I meant by exposed," she murmured. "To have such a physical indicator of emotion...."

Sorry Raven. 'Cock and balls' are pretty much de rigueur in Kaeleer.

"It's bloody annoying, that's what it is," Karla grumbled. "Especially when the least little thing can set it off. Like the wind. It's like a fricking weathervane."

"Was Warren changed as well?" Raven asked curiously. She couldn't help but wonder how that might count toward Karla's Virgin Night.

"He was," Karla sighed, "and just as freaked out as I was. Am. Whatever. It's his first time."

Well, if things kept going the same way they had this morning, there would be nothing to count towards her Night.

Good.

She managed not to say that out loud.

"How are you doing?" Raven asked, sending Karla a gentle wave of comfort. She knew how hard this change was on Karla of all people since her powers were linked to her gender. "Can I do anything to help you?"

"I'm doing all right, all things considered," Karla answered. "Mostly because I know it'll be all right tomorrow. Just focusing on that. All better tomorrow."
