Second Floor Common Room, Friday Morning
It had been a thankfully calm and uneventful week for once. Ender knew better than to hope that would continue, though he wasn't so bound by superstition that he feared acknowledging it aloud. However, not exactly being the type to talk to himself, he didn't anyway-- instead he was doing so by moving into the common room without his laptop this time.
He was going to check out if the History Channel was showing something interesting instead.
Yes. Exciting.
He had a bowl full of cereal and a glass of milk, and he was going to spend this morning doing the closest thing to relaxing he ever did. Well. Second-closest. He'd already gone through his morning exercise schedule.
...

"Good morning," he greeted, stepping inside quietly. "How are things this Friday, Ender?"

"What are you watching?" she asked with interest, peering over at the television as she made her way into the kitchen.

She knew a little more about Rome than Greece, but from what she could tell, this could be helpful learning.

It was always one of the ones about World War II, as far as she could tell. But then, she didn't exactly watch the History channel a lot.

More goddesses, fewer tanks; of course it was Tara's preference.
"Hey," she added. "So is today the start of your weekend, too?"

Mostly due to poor education and the fact that it was basically ancient history, to her.

She still looked as if she hadn't been sleeping much, and was quieter and more sober than people might be used to seeing her act, but she was trying her best as she ventured into the common room and glanced at the TV.
"Oh, is the History Channel doing another one of those specials? They always get so much wrong."
. . . only by the standards of your world, Gabrielle.

And the best friend you're currently not speaking to has stirrups on her horse's riding gear, so stop it, Gabrielle.

Apparently she'd had a mini-rant in her anyway; it was just a little more cynical than normal.
