Fifth Floor Common Room [Saturday morning]

Sookie was a little surprised this morning -- obviously, since the future-children had been to visit already, it wasn't going to happen again. But when she had woken up still seventeen (still prom queen!) and found Bobby decidedly...smaller, and younger by about ten years, she could've been knocked over by a feather.

That being said, it hadn't taken long for her to realize the only course of action. And so Sookie, in her pajamas (and Bobby, somehow in little-boy pajamas that featured penguins driving racecars) padded out to the common room to start making pancakes. Somewhere along the way, she'd added a few healthier foods to her plan, too, and had turned on some cartoons, but pancakes were definitely the endgame here.

It had worked for the other little kids, after all.

[COMMON ROOM IS OPEN YAY WEETINIES OMG]

Bobby was torn between cartoons and, well... "Can I help?"

"Me!" Bobby bounced at Sookie. "I'm strong! I can do it! Do what?"

"Kay," Bobby nodded at her, setting about the task with enthusiasm.

Enough enthusiasm that the pancake batter didn't entirely stay in the bowl. Most of it did, but there was still a significant splatter-radius surrounding Bobby.

Bobby gave Sookie a considering look. "But you're biggerer than me!" he argued. "Grownups can do anything they want."

Jonothon was hungry. He was hungry, and all he had in his room was a stupid crown (that he was going to wear because being the king was awesome) and a cat.

And he couldn't eat either, because both of them were pointy and kitties probably didn't taste very good. But that wasn't going to stop him from making his way around the dorms in search of food, with the crown sitting very crookedly on his head so that it didn't fall down over his face, and a very squirmy cat in his arms.

"I smell food," he announced. Because that was just what you said when you were hungry and thought that manners were dumb.

"Really?" Bobby asked.

"Sookie's makin' pancakes and I got to stir and they're gonna be the best pancakes," Bobby informed Jono all in a rush. Jono... could probably see the evidence of Bobby's 'help' in a few stray splatters around the room.

Oh, Sookie. That was mean. He was obviously a starving child, here! He hadn't eaten anything since forever, and did you have any idea how much work it was to remember all the words?

That said, he managed to only look a little bit like the whole world was ending as he wrinkled his nose and muttered, "Please."

Joni gave a sorrowful mewl in counterpoint. It was possible that she was going to be the more polite one, here.

The next child to stroll into the common room was a pretty well-dressed 7-year-old. Jeremy was in his 'I wanna dress like daddy!" phase, and he knew he wouldn't be served by the Darling kitchen staff here, so he'd felt like changing out of his space-pattern pyjamas and was now sporting a dress shirt and red suspenders with his dark pants.

There was nothing refined about the look of glee on his face when he spotted what was going on in the kitchen area. "Oh my gosh, are there pancakes?"

He could! Jono took a moment to look at Bobby, and the aforementioned splatters, and then he held up Joni, who looked like her entire world was shattering down upon her. He hadn't put her down for at least an hour, now. There was no escape.

"The best ever? The best ever have chocolate in them," Jonothon decided, because... because everything was better with chocolate in it. It was law.

There was clearly something about a girl cooking pancakes that acted as a siren call to small boys, because yet another one was here to try and get in on that action. Chuck wandered over and hopped onto his tiptoes to peer over the table to see what she was doing.

"What're you makin'?"

"That's not what my dad says," Bobby shared. Yes, the 'Because I'm a grownup and you're not' was an argument that William Drake employed rather often.

"You think so?" Jono took a moment to try to figure out how to stuff a cat under one arm so that he could eat with his free hand. "I think she said meow. It's what cats say, you know."

Just in case she wasn't aware.

"Her name is Joni," he added, because everyone in the world needed to be made aware of that, too. And then, as another afterthought as he finally managed to shuffle the squirming cat under his armpit, because he figured that the nice lady who was feeding him was going to want to hear it eventually anyhow, he added, "Thank you."

"There's chocolate," Bobby informed Jono. "Of course." Well. There hadn't been a moment ago. But there was now, thanks to whoever'd left a bag of chocolate chips out on the counter within a tiny person's reach.

He figured Sookie wouldn't mind if he just went ahead and dumped them all in the batter right now.

Jeremy... probably wasn't going to be that someone. "Bacon!" he enthused instead. "Can I have some, please?"

See, this one even had manners.

Oh, these were going to be the best pancakes in the whole wide world. There was a bit more squirming as Jono relocated Joni under his armpit, where she dangled like a woebegone black and white rag-doll. And then he was reaching into the batter with his newly-freed hand to pick out a chocolate chip to pop into his mouth.

"See, I knew somebody would know the best recipe," Jono intoned, solemnly, before reaching in for a second chocolate chip. It was a little batter-smeared, but it was still good.
