Fifth Floor Common Room [Saturday morning]

Sookie was a little surprised this morning -- obviously, since the future-children had been to visit already, it wasn't going to happen again. But when she had woken up still seventeen (still prom queen!) and found Bobby decidedly...smaller, and younger by about ten years, she could've been knocked over by a feather.

That being said, it hadn't taken long for her to realize the only course of action. And so Sookie, in her pajamas (and Bobby, somehow in little-boy pajamas that featured penguins driving racecars) padded out to the common room to start making pancakes. Somewhere along the way, she'd added a few healthier foods to her plan, too, and had turned on some cartoons, but pancakes were definitely the endgame here.

It had worked for the other little kids, after all.

Bobby was torn between cartoons and, well... "Can I help?"

"Hmmm." Sookie studied him as she started putting together the batter. "I think I have one thing I can have you do. Do you think you can manage it? I need someone really, really strong for this job."

"Me!" Bobby bounced at Sookie. "I'm strong! I can do it! Do what?"

This was likely going to end disastrously, but she could always make more batter. Sookie made sure the ingredients were incorporated before handing the bowl to Bobby along with a spoon. "I need you to stir that really well, okay?"

"Kay," Bobby nodded at her, setting about the task with enthusiasm.

Enough enthusiasm that the pancake batter didn't entirely stay in the bowl. Most of it did, but there was still a significant splatter-radius surrounding Bobby.

Sookie had planned for this, which was why by the time he'd started stirring, she had grabbed some paper towels and was busily wiping up the spilled batter. "Good job! You're the best stirrer, Bobby. I"m really glad you're here to help me 'cause I know I wouldn't be able to do it that well at all."

Bobby gave Sookie a considering look. "But you're biggerer than me!" he argued. "Grownups can do anything they want."

"Not true," she said, shaking her head. "Sometimes grownups need help, too, honey. Just 'cause I'm allowed to do what I want doesn't mean I'm the best at it or it's a good decision all the time."

"Really?" Bobby asked.

"Yep, really. Part of growin' up is realizing sometimes things are better when someone else helps you," she replied, proud to have imparted this lesson. To her boyfriend. Who was only temporarily a child.

...whatever, still counted.

"That's not what my dad says," Bobby shared. Yes, the 'Because I'm a grownup and you're not' was an argument that William Drake employed rather often.

Sookie frowned a little, trying to figure out how to get around that one without insulting little Bobby's dad. "I think your daddy and I might just have different takes on things," she decided diplomatically.

"There's lotsa stuff dad doesn't agree with," Bobby admitted. "But it's okay 'cause we're here and he's not!"

"That is right, but you still have to listen to grownups like me, sometimes," Sookie said, just in case. "Even if your parents aren't around."

"Course I'd listen to you!" Bobby said emphatically. Sookie was the smartest and best ever, after all.

"You better," Sookie said, tapping his nose with her finger. "Or I won't let you have powdered sugar on your pancakes."

Bobby hadn't even known powdered sugar on pancakes was a thing. "But that'd be mean!"

That fact wasn't going to stop him from arguing that denying him that would be the worst ever, apparently.

"what's weird about em?" Bobby demanded. And then the tried and true retort of: "you're weird."
