3rd Floor Common Room, Thursday Night

Johnny didn't see what the big deal was with today. Oooh, people told the truth. So what? He liked telling the truth! He did it all the time! He was awesome. Reed was a douche. Gwen was cool. Alana was hot. He didn't have many male friends because he never truly felt deep down that he really belonged after spending his entire youth out of place. He had no idea how to commit to anything but superheroing. This pizza was delicious and there was plenty for everyone. This Kate Hudson movie was wonderful, she was such a good actress.

Kate Hudson was where he drew the line. "I really want this channel to change so I can save face if anyone comes in. I DON'T KNOW WHY THE CHANNEL WON'T CHANGE! I'd totally bang Kate Hudson."

Okay, maybe THAT was how he could save face if anyone came in.

"I've used that as a pickup line before," Johnny said. "And it worked!"

"Oh, Johnny." Rapunzel really wanted to roll her eyes at that, but she couldn't help but giggle. "I kind of don't know whether I should be proud of you for that or not."

"Of course you should, it was great," Johnny said. "Well, the pickup was. She was a really bad kisser and, yeeeah."

"Yeah, but it's also so cheesy," she replied, shaking her head. "Like even I think that's kind of cheesy, and you know I'll fall for like, anything."

A pause, and then, "And I'm really kind of over this thing that's happening with today."

"It worked situationally," Johnny said. "And I don't remember having to make you fall for anything. I was very direct and it worked out well for everyone involved."

"I'm mostly okay with this thing today, even if it makes me sound weird."

"I just keep saying things I don't mean to say, and I worry I'm hurting people's feelings," Rapunzel replied, frowning. "And no, you were super-direct with me, which I appreciate, because I'm really, really sick of being lied to by people."

And that wasn't something she meant to say, either, and she was just going to sit here and sigh for a minute.

"Dude, who's lying to you? And do they at least have a good reason?" Johnny asked.

"So there's no quicksand that you've seen, right?" she checked. "Or plagues, around here? Or men with pointy teeth? Because that's what my mom used to tell me was outside if I tried to leave my tower, and I really think those were lies and today is really kind of upsetting because normally I don't talk about any of this." She took a deep breath. "How come you can't change the channel? Did you try doing it on the remote and the TV?"

"Well, the gremlin have pointy teeth and it's flu season, but that's not really the same thing," Johnny noted. "If it helps, that's just something parents do. My dad told us our mom died when I was little, but she actually went to research Atlantis for like 12 years. Parents lie about crazy things for reasons that seem sane at the time, I guess."

"And yep. It just won't change for some reason."

"Yeah, but I feel like if she had good intentions, I wouldn't have had to run away from home." Whoa, and that was sort of intense to actually admit. "Did your mom come back from Atlantis, after that? And did she find anything? Because that sounds interesting and all but it's kind of not okay to say she was dead."

"I didn't know that you ran away. Well, you're good here, at least, right?" Johnny checked. "And yeah. She found the lost city under the sea. And then accidentally released this angry superpowered dude who really wants to bang my sister. And then she took a job with our worst enemy. So it was kind of a mixed return."

"Everyone's problems are a lot more complex than my problems," Rapunzel said slowly, digesting all that. "Because wow, that is a lot to deal with. Seriously, how are you as normal as you are? Because I think I'd just kind of shrivel up and die if I had to deal with all of that kind of stuff and save the world." She paused to take a breath before adding, "And I'm fine here as long as no one kidnaps me for my hair, which I would also think was a lie if I didn't have proof someone tried, so I worry about it a lot."

"Eh, this kind of stuff happens in my world," Johnny said. "It's kind of normal for me."

"But I can promise that if anyone ever comes after your hair and you need a hand, I'll b there. Just let me know."
