There was a sign that said "NO BOYS ALLOWED" on the entrance, but how harshly that would be enforced would probably be dependent on how tolerant said Boys were of manicures, rom-coms, make-up, hairstyle fun, and jumping into the ball pit.

After a week like the last one, a little girl-bonding seemed needed.

For someone who could literally change her entire physical appearance at will, Raven had managed to acquire a really ridiculous amount of make-up. Some of it was from home, stuff she carried around just in case someone started to suspect she wasn't just your average 1950s teenager. Most of it was from her and Hanna's shopping trip a few weeks ago.

Most of that was eyebrow pencil.

"We don't want to go too dark," Raven said thoughtfully, picking through the colors. "It'd clash with your coloring."

"What's 'too dark'?" Hanna was examining the pencils and lipsticks with interest. And the nail options-- she was kind of thinking of filing her nails to sharp, menacing points. "I don't really know what I want to look like?"

"You don't want to look like a cartoon character," Raven said. "Maybe a dark gold?"

She didn't actually know. She almost never actually used any make-up. "We should play a game or something, too. Girls on sleepovers in movies always play some sort of silly game."

"Like the Spin the Bottle game?" Hanna giggled under her breath. "Or something else?"

She'd put on some blush. It made her look less pale!

Or possibly more like a porcelain doll!

Raven sighed. "That was definitely fun," she said. "But I'm thinking more like . . . Truth or Dare. Or maybe a board game?"

The common rooms had to have some board games, right?

"I haven't played many of those. But I'd like to," Hanna admitted. "But what is the pit of all those colored balls for?"

Okay, porcelain doll was good, right?

If a little gothic, sure.

"It's a ball pit," Raven said. "You play around in it. Throw balls at people."

Raven had never actually done it, but she imagined ball fights were the highlight of the ball pit.

"Hmmmm." Okay, maybe later. After she'd exhausted the make-up possibilities. "... very well, then. Eyebrows. And blue nail polish. To match you."

"I'll paint mine pale yellow, then," Raven said. Complementary nails! "What movie do you want to watch?"

"Something ... hmm. Modern? With good music." Hanna shrugged. "I haven't seen many movies. I'll be happy with anything, truly." She paused. "We should have food. I can make popcorn."

Somewhere, Kitty was proud of her. Adulting!

"Popcorn is perfect," Raven decided. "And chocolate!" Maybe not at the same time? "Sports or romance? Or satire?"

"Sports." Hanna smiled, and reached for the pinkest lipstick. "Something with victory." Then she bounced up to grab a bag of popcorn for the microwave.

"Ooo, this one has gymnastics. Lots of flipping and spinning!"

"Yes!" Hanna jumped back over the couch, nodding vehemently. "Have you heard of parkour? I saw an advertisement the other day, and it looked like gymnastics, but not quite." She started carefully filing her nails, trying to get them to look like claws. "...I think I am a little sad that the pollen is gone now. But mostly relieved."

"I am so relieved. Being a teenager in the land of hot people is hard enough when you're not literally itching with desire." Her hands had gotten quite the workout. "We get to talk without flirting now."

"I don't think I was very good at the flirting," Hanna said, mostly matter-of-fact, with a little ruefulness. "But people were kind about it. And I didn't over-react this time." She looked up finally, and said, "How does this look?"

"Oh I like that!" Raven grinned. "Just the right amount of drama. And flirting just needs practice."

Pleased, Hanna pulled her hair up and out of the way, so she could experiment with the other make-up they'd bought. "Can I practice on you? Or would that be awkward?"

"It'll just mean I have to wash my face later," Raven said. "Any particular look you want to start with? I could look like you, if you want. It'd be even more accurate than a mirror."

Hanna blinked, then nodded rapidly, smiling. "Please! And... oh, I want to look professional first. As if for a job interview."

"So you'll want to go clean and understated. Enough that you can tell you're putting in an effort, but not so much that you look like you're going out to a party or something." Raven shifted to a clean, make-up less Raven look. "A good pink lip, maybe, and some earth-toned eye shadow."

Hanna shifted forward to put carefully line Raven's lips, then used the lipstick to make them nicely pink. "I could learn how to blend in anywhere, not like you, but. I could still hide in plain sight, or at least from security cameras," Hanna mused aloud.

"Like a spy," Raven said. "Disappear in plain sight."

THat was just eerie. Hanna stared at - Raven/herself-- and then shook her head. "What do you think would look good on me? You always look exactly as you like."

"Golds and pinks," Raven said. "Maybe a really pale blue. You have such a unique look, you should play it up!"
