Second Floor Common Room, Tuesday Afternoon

Right, so there was a food video that had been viewed 20 million times and was, sure, probably a crime against humanity and definitely a year's worth of calories, but it was also a Challenge and let's be honest, without shenanigans to set up this week, Beaker had way too much time on his hands.

So here he was, preparing to make barbecue chicken quesadilla pepperoni pizza pie wedges...deep-fried.

Shuri had come in as he was preparing the chicken and had already started filming this for Science. She was also taking bets on what would catch fire first, if anyone wanted in...

[OOC: Had to. Come give Beaker his big send-off before he goes off to become Dr. Honeydew's hapless assistant!]

Lana...had just wanted a sandwich or something.

Now she was standing and staring in horrified fascination.

"It's like a slow motion trainwreck, isn't it?" Shuri said as Beaker carefully tossed the chicken breasts in a mixture of...something...and chucked it into a oven that he then turned on.

"Well, that's not going to be right," she muttered, shaking her head.

"I have no idea how to cook with these appliances," Lana confessed. "I'm mostly just wondering when we'll have to put out a fire."

Shuri slid a piece of paper over. "Put down your guess!" she said. "Five dollar buy-in. He has oil out to fry something, so I'm betting on then."

Lana laughed. "Well, if you've already got that one...is he using actual flames at any point?"

[scoffs_at_tradition]

"I would not put it past him, honestly," Shuri said. "Probably with an actual flame-thrower that he just pulls from his lab coat."

The physics of Beaker baffled her.

Something had managed to drift up all the way to the fourth floor common room to capture Sidon's attention, so, curious, he decided to explore and find the source of such an...intriguing aroma.

"Is that...pizza I smell?"

Not quite, Sidon, but...good guess?

"Not exactly, I don't think." Lana smiled at him. "Hello."

"Not....exactly?" Sidon moved into this room, pulled in by his sheer curiosity at such a response, but also just as pleased by the company reveaeled inside the room as the mystery of the not exactly pizza. He smiled back, bright and toothly. "And hello, Lana! It's always lovely to see you! I hope the day is treating you well?"

"It is," she answered. His enthusiasm was always so infectious. "And I think it's got some pizza parts to it, but not entirely?" She shrugged. "There seems to be a lot of work involved."

"Ah!" Sidon noted with a determined brightness. "Then surely the magnificence of the result will match the magnitude of the effort!"

That was totally how it worked, right?

"I am rather looking forward to it now!"

"We can only hope."

...that really was probably all they could do.

"How have you been?"

"It might be?" Shuri guessed. "He has pepperoni out. But there's chicken in the oven. And tortillas for...something."

At least there wasn't mayonnaise yet?

Sidon considered these things, frowning slightly. "Those items taken collectively do not usually a pizza make," he noted, "but, then again, I am not exactly well versed in the culinary arts of this particular world. Perhaps we shall wait and see? I must admit, I am terribly curious, though I do have the distinct feeling that perhaps I should not be...Far be it from me, however, to discourage a friend in the pursuits of new and exciting adventures in food!"

"I have taken several terrifying classes on food and I am still a little worried about where this combination could be heading," Shuri admitted, watching Beaker with concern as he hopped around meeping.

Apparently, he'd grated his finger along with the cheese in...whatever this next step was.

Oh, what was a little felt and foam in one's deep fried barbecue chicken quesadilla pepperoni pizza pie wedges, anyway?

"Well, however it may end up," Sidon postulated with an encouraging sort of smile, "it will, at the very least, be an experience! In the meantime, while we await with bated breath to discover just what sort of category of experience this flavorful pursuit shall fall into, how are you, Shuri? Are you looking forward to the fall semester? It's hard to believe that it is right around the corner!"

Look, Nina's own cooking was a terrifying, terrifying thing full of questions.

But all she'd wanted was to get a glass of juice and now--

"An abomination," Shuri said cheerfully. "I'm recording it for the insurance claim when he burns us all to the ground."

"I'll, like, be super impressed and also really annoyed if he burns a castle down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina said, almost admiringly. "I've never had to figure out how to burn a castle down!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"You've tried to burn a castle down before?" Shuri asked, eyebrows arching.

"Nooooooooooooo," Nina admitted. "And it's, like, pretty unlikely I'd be asked to, though that would be some totally awesome sabotage if I could manage it, but................"

It would probably not come up?

"Nina!" Sidon brightened a bit to see her. Only a bit, mind, since his mood was already quite radiant. "Hello! Come join us! Beaker is in the throes of a rather exciting experiment, and I hear pizza maybe involved! It's ever so exciting! Beaker is a wonderfully thrilling cook to watch!"

Because who didnt like their dinner with a little endangerment?

"Siiiiiiiiiiiiiidon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not seeing a lot of pizza involved, yet," said the girl who thought pizza was made by combining a tomato with a shellfish in a wok, but Nina beamed at the invitation anyway. "But, like, I do like to watch experiments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"I was assured that there wod at the very least be pepperoni," Sidon informed Nina, and, really, that sounded plenty pizza-esque to him. Since Beaker seemed pretty deep in his work, though, he suspected it may be a moment before they were to truly find out, so he grinned down at Nina pleasantly.

"And how have you been, my dear Nina?" He inquired. "It feels as though we have not had the chance to really enjoy each other's company for quite some time!"

"It's true, we haven't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" It... it, man, it had been ages since they'd actually talked, hadn't it? "We should, like, hang out sometime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Deliberately, I mean, since we're hanging out now!!!!!!!!!!!!"

She laughed up at him.

"I'm totally making a mess of that, aren't I????????????? But it's good to see you!!!!!!!!!! I've been, well, this past week has been pretty okay???????????????? I visiting Prompto's world and his prince is having his birthday soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've already wrapped one of the presents for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

That singing plaque fish was in the most obnoxiously, sparkly pink wrapping confection that Nina could accomplish. She was pretty proud of it.
