Wandering down from the third floor Callisto nabbed a handful of pretzels. "Evening, Parker."

"Hey, Callisto. I heard there was some excitement at Caritas a couple nights ago?" Parker asked, taking a sip of her drink. "Go, you. Sort of."

"Something like that," Callisto shrugged and nibbled on a pretzel. "Could have been worse if that Jarod guy hadn't stepped in."

Parker had a momentary all-over body twitch that might have been noticeable, might not. "He did, hunh? He mentioned something about that," she said grimly. "How bad was it, exactly?"

"About as bad as you'd expect a possessive mother-girlfriend talk to go," Callisto rubbed the back of her neck. "Although I guess the whole vampire factor didn't help."

"Yeah. We *really* have to do something about that chick. She went after Jack Harkness last week, scared the life out of him, and now she knows you and Wings are an item..." Parker sighed, and rubbed the back of her neck. "And I really hope she doesn't feel like Jarod's fair game now. Ugh."

"Maybe whoever's going after people with water ballons could be tempted to start using holy water," Callisto suggested, then asked in a oh-so-innocent way. "So, Jarod's a friend of yours?"

"I like that idea. As long as that person is on a jihad, they might as well be useful," Parker said grimly. "Jarod? Yeah, we've known each other forever, almost."

"Interesting," Callisto might have started smirking.

"What?" Parker demanded, then said, "You've been talking to Rory, haven't you!"

"She's nuts." Parker sighed. "I think she just likes pairing people up. Jarod and I are not an entity that will ever happen in a romantic way, okay? You'd think hearing him *say* that would convince her, even if I couldn't."

"Sure, the same way she and Anakin are just friends," Callisto couldn't resist saying. "Although sometimes what people say and what they mean can be quite different."

Parker glared. "Coming from you, that's just ludicrous. Not my boyfriend, not my boyfriend... And now? Boyfriend. Jarod and I are dating other people, it's completely different."

"Parker, you realise using me as an example's just proving my point." Callisto raised an eyebrow. "And of course all high school relationships last for life, especially when one of the people involved is Jack Harkness."

"Pfftttt. We're just having fun, but come on!" Parker make flailing motions with her arms. "I *would* be dating Jarod if I wanted to, but I don't want to! We make each other nuts, we got through a weekend in New York with lots of other people because there were lots of other people." She sighed in exasperation. "I don't know where Rory is getting this, I swear I don't. But don't listen to her. Okay?"

"Drive each other crazy do you?" Callisto did not have any thoughts along the lines of protesting too much.

"He's annoying, superior, wise-assed, and know-it-all, so yes, we make each other crazy. Which is not to say he's not my best friend, but he is *not* boyfriend material. He's even less boyfriend material than Jack is, and I've had sex with Jack." Parker sighed. "He's dating Rose Tyler, and for him, she's girlfriend material. I really am going to have to tell her I'm not interested if this silliness gets around."

"Well if we're talking suitable boyfriend material, I'd hazard a guess that annoying, superior, wise-assed, know-it-alls are still better than broody, souled vampires," Sure Callisto was risking Parker's wrath, but she was a person who threw drinks in murderous vampires' faces. "But I'll just have to take your word for it, I suppose."

Parker stole a page from Marty Blank's book, and death-glared at Callisto. "And I wouldn't date the broody vampire, either. These situations are not equivalent. And yes, you can take my word for it. Damnit."

Death glares? Not so effective on Callisto. "Okay. Sure. I believe you," she nodded.

Parker pouts, but refuses to say anything else. She's getting the feeling that until she and Jack run off to Vegas, people will be trying to hook her up with Jarod.

Hmm.

Vegas.

She's had worse ideas....
