"Not until six o'clock," said Janet. She shrugged. "Everyone's got heavier courseloads this semester, and I didn't want it to conflict with classes at all. Does the time work for you?"

"Does," Angel said. "Though my player won't be online until 10 What's on the agenda this time?"

"The vampires without souls," said Janet. "The ongoing search for the way to find out the status of your soul. I think we're going to ask someone about the ducks." Janet pursed her lips and tried to remember the rest of the items on the agenda. "I think I have a note scribbled somewhere about 'perfect happiness.' Lucky you." We're calling slowplay based on time zone and RL factors, so no worries.

"Do you have anything you want to add?" She glanced curiously at him. "Since you're e-mail deficient."

Angel drew Janet over to a small zone of privacy. He lowered his voice so hopefully she was the only one who could hear him in the crowd. "If we're talking about ways to lose my soul, I'd put the priority on magic. I saw Bel earlier today and he was way too cheerful for a guy whose girlfriend just got put in a wheelchair. He made a couple of comments too. I think something's up."

Janet's demeanor changed from casual to focused. "Not again," she said, her voice kept low. "He hasn't been in the library as much as he was last semester. I'm not sure if it's because of the huge fine he had, or because he's found what he thinks he needed. Do you think Piper or Ms. Calendar would be able to find out what he's up to? I know his girlfriend is in I-Club, but I don't want to put her in a bad position."

"Yeah, Callisto was saying maybe we shouldn't include Phoebe on this talk," Angel said. "If nothing else she might say something to tip our hand, even if we're circumspect around her."

"Callisto's a very sensible person in many ways," said Janet. "I completely agree. Maybe we can talk privately with them after the club meeting. That seems like the easiest way to do this."

"I think you're right," Angel said. He shook his head. "I don't fault her for loving him and wanting to see the best, but not at the expense of me turning into my worst."

"I'm not having your worst living next door to me," said Janet. Her eyes were narrowed. She might have been calculating Angel's body weight and the amount of sedative needed to render him unconscious as quickly as possible. Maybe. "It may be that she sees the best in him. That's to her credit, if she loves him. I'd rather avoid any chance at tipping our hand to Belthazor, however. I'll ask Ms. Calendar to see if Piper can stay back after. I presume Callisto is interested?"

Angel nodded. "She ran into Darla. She may have clues we can use."

"She's all right?" asked Janet, her eyes widening a trace. "I hadn't heard anything about her being hurt."

Angel couldn't help a proud smile. "Oh yeah. Callisto can handle herself. She threw a drink in Darla's face."

Janet snickered. "Good. The next question is: Can we get the security footage of that?" She glanced down at her plate, which had slowly emptied as they'd been talking. "Damn. I've finished my food and have to get back to my History homework. I'll see you tomorrow, Angel."
