"Oh, I wouldn't dream of inconveniencing you so soon, Miss Parker." He offers her a bow. Teasingly he adds, "I'd kiss your hand in congratulations, but it might be miscontrued."

"If I promise to construe it only as respect, would you do it anyway?" she asked, smiling winningly. "I won an election, I think I can handle that."

Archie pretends to heave a melodramatic sigh. "Well, I suppose it's perfectly justified in this case," he says, holding a hand out expectantly.

Parker dropped her hand dramatically in his, and chuckled. "Justified and restrained, after all."

"Absolutely. It would be rude of me not to, given the circumstances, would it not?" Archie bends low over her hand with a flourish. "My most heartfelt congratulations to you on your victory," he says, dropping a kiss on her knuckles.

"Thank you, Lieutenant. Your congratulations are most appreciated," Parker said, smiling brilliantly, then gave his hand a squeeze. "Now comes the difficult part. Good thing we have so many people helping."

"If there's anything I can do, however unofficial the capacity, please feel free to call on me for assistance." Archie squeezes Parker's hand back before letting go. "Though you all seem quite the capable lot to me."

"I shall keep that in mind." Parker smiled, and folded her arms. "Well, we'll see. The juniors are the only proven quantities, but Callisto's impressive, and the freshmen I've met seen motivated. So hopefully, we'll be visiting Paris or London or Venice by the end of the year, if we can get a school trip off the ground."

"Oh, come now, there's got to be something said for the sophomore class," Archie protests, laughing. "Granted, two of our newly elected officers are also brand new students and thus unknown quantities of a sort. Still, it ought to say something that there were so many candidates from our class, though what that something is I can't quite be sure."

His eyes flash mischievously. "A school trip sounds lovely -- though you'll forgive me if I beg off a trip to Paris."

"Okay, props for getting involved. And perhaps it says they're motivatd. Or suck-ups." She grinned. "Too soon to tell."

"I'll forgive you," Parker gave a put-upon sigh, "since you can't help the associations. I'd think you'd like to visit Napoleon's tomb, though. Wherever that is."

"Yes, we'll find out sooner or later, won't we?" Archie returned the grin. "And all right, you've tempted me with Napoleon's tomb. You may have to restrain me from doing something irreverent, though!"
