Second Floor Common Room (starting in the late afternoon and continuing into evening)

Rory had streamers and glitter and a newly-made, orange-and-white banner that read "HAPPY BIRTHDAY CALLY."

But Rory is not that tall. So she was having a bit of trouble hanging up the banner and streamers.

Well. She was having trouble inasmuch as she was being more flaily than usual.

After dinner which hasn't been RPed, OMG and on the way back up to the room, Anders pauses outside the door to the common room and tells Cally, "Hey, let's stop in really quick and say hi to people, okay?"

Grinning broadly, he squeezes her hand and opens the door. "After you."

Cally walks in, and as no one has seemingly turned out the lights or hidden behind couches or somesuch, merely rolls her eyes at the banner.

"You really couldn't help yourself to the whole big party idea, huh?"

"Happy birthday, Cally," Rory said warmly. "There's cake, too."

"Thanks," Cally says, more than completely embarassed. "I didn't think anyone knew."

Anders just looks as innocent as possible. "I have no idea what you're talking about. I had nothing to do with any of this. Really."

Anders bites his lip, looking crestfallen. "I'm sorry? Did you not . . . should I not have -- was this a bad idea?"

Cally shrugs. "Naw, s'totally okay." She then smiles broadly. "You did good. Honest."

"Ummm," Molly said hesitantly. "I didn't? I just happened to come in and find the decorations." She gave Cally an apologetic look.

"But!" She continued brightly. "I'm glad I found out because I would have been really sad to have missed your birthday." She grinned. "I don't have a present though. I'll have to get you something later. I hope you don't mind."

"Hey!" Bridge waves to Cally. "Happy birthday! Even if I totally didn't know about it 'till just now when I walked in and saw the banner," Bridge points to the banner in question.

Cally chews on her lip and shrugs apologetically. "I kinda didn't tell anyone other than Anders. Didn't want any fuss, really. But thanks."

Bridge sighs. "I already guilt-tripped Anders about it, but really, I should be *informed* of these things," he sticks his tongue out at her.

"Same goes for me," Cordy says after Bridge wishes her happy birthday. "I didn't know, but happy birthday all the same!"

"Thanks," Cally says, giving Cordelia a thumbs up. "Don't feel left out or anything about the knowing thing. Cause I kinda didn't tell anyone."

And she doesn't understand why anyone would ever not mention their birthday. Hello, presents?

"I didn't, because I didn't get any warning, but..." Parker handed over a card. Inside was an I.O.U. for a day at the NPC Spa in town. "For whenever you feel like ditching your boyfriend and business partner to be girly."

Marty comes in a little late and gives the birthday girl a little wave. "Happy birthday Cally. Hope you forgive me but I didn't have a gift ready for you, mostly because I had no idea it was your birthday."

"I think I need to tape a sign to my chest that says something about how it's totally okay nobody got me anything," Cally says, shoving her hands deep into her pockets, awkwardly. "I kinda didn't tell anyone cause I didn't want a fuss."

"It's your birthday, silly," Marty says with a little eye roll. "You should at least get a-"

Marty snaps his fingers.

"Hang on, be right back."

Marty returns fifteen minutes later with a grilled ham and cheese sandwich.

"I think I've owed you one of these for quite some time."
