The Pool Saturday Afternoon

Paige was still trying to get over the topless photo of 'English' Peter apparently she had a knack for missing all the fun.

Having worked out that sitting in her room trying to work out if there was a spell to go back in time and exactly how much personal gain it would involve if there was, was not a good idea she headed to the pool.

Paige considers the question for a moment, "um pretty much the same I think and don't worry I understand distracted, anything in particular or should I just mind my own business?" she asked.

He'd been pretty open about stuff so far. "Do you know anything about Changlings?" he asked.

"I don't think so know, I could probably um find out if you want, I'm a witch," she said "so are you just interested in them or um...is that what you are?" she smiled "I'm pretty open minded about all that stuff."

Tim smirked a bit. "You're the second Witch I've met so far." ~~that he knows of~~ "I think I spotted one yesterday. But I'm not sure, it was weird." He blinked. "And I mean that it wasn't the same as the other changeling's I've dealt with."

"Could you tell me what it looked like? It might be someone I know, I've not heard of any Changeling's around here, but then I don't know what they are so you know."

((and I'm about to disappear, sorry. Slow play tomorrow?))

"A changling is a Faerie Child, who's been traded for a mortal one." Tim said. "yesterday I met a girl named Pippi who's eyes...well they were Changling's eyes. I've seen them before, but only once on someone my age."

Paige looked confused, "No Pippi's not one of those, I'm sure of it, I know she's a little...kooky but she's normal. So you're from a world with magic too then?"

"Only recently." Tim said. He looked puzzled. "Well it's always been there but no one believed in it so it lost a lot of it's power."

"I could have been mistaken," he mused. "but those purple eyes..."

"Yeah no one knows about the magic in my world either, I didn't even know about until just before I came here," when my parents died she added mentally.

"It took some getting used to. When people stopped believing in them, the Fae were exiled, but in september they started coming back. Hell, I never believed in that stuff till a banshee showed up while I was babysitting."

Paige winced, "that must've been inconveniant, so where are you from exactly?"

"New York." Tim replied. "The bronx specifically." ~~despite the fact that he doesn't have an accent~~

"Sounds like we might be from the same world, I'm from San Francisco."

"Could be," tim said thoughtfully. "The Fae leaked out into New York. I didn't hear anything about it but they could have leaked out into San Francisco too."

"Well I'm pretty sure we have banshees and other magical creatures like that, I've ust not seen any yet, so do you have powers?" she asked pulling herself out of the pool to sit beside him.

"I apparently have some sort of affinity for Magic." he said. "A hobgoblin named Hobson gave me a want that the Fae made so I could help them. I can't quite figure out the instructions yet though."

Paige grinned, "that sounds pretty cool, and you know there quite a few magic users here, I'm sure they'd be happy to help you out, I don't use a wand or anything, but if you wanted some to practise with or something, it looks like I'm gonna have quite a lot of free time over the summer." she told him.

tim flailed for a good response. "That sounds cool." Oh yeah. Smooth. "I'm still getting used to people not freaking out about this stuff." he said. "That was part of my job, helping people not freak out, cause that could get the Fae exiled again."

"That's the good thing about this place, no one seems to freak out about what anyone is. It's just a shame it's not like that back home. Sounds like you were doing a pretty important job before yo came here."

"I like to think so. Things've pretty much calmed down up there. For a while there was this whole big turf war between the Fae. They like to attatch themselves to mortals of the right ethnic background, but with New York being the big melting pot that it is...well we set up an agency to match Fae with humans, and my High School guidance counselor started mediating disputes. So I was sent here to further acclimate myself with the supernatural."

Her eyes went wide for a moment, "wow, that sounds...really interesting, so people actually know about the Fae? They aren't hidden or anything? And you've certainly been sent to the right place for that, I'm pretty sure this is one of the more supernatural places in the world, well ignoring the fact it's kinda outside tikme and space obviously so not actually in the world."

"Well some of them do." tim explained. "See, the more openminded people can see them. But there's some that simply won't accept their existence, so their brain filters them out, or changes them into something else. I'm pretty sure one guy saw a phouka carrying me and my friends as a firetruck."

"Yeah I guess that makes sense, people are always rationalising stuff away if they can't explain it right?" she said, "and a phouka's a type of Fae?" she asked clearly confused.

"Yeah he's a horse. sort of, cuase he can change into a human too. And apparently enlongage himself ~~dirty~~ to carry a ridiculous amount of passengers."

mmmm, exposition. *drool*

"right," was pretty much all Paige could think of to say, because even in Fandom that sounded kinda wierd.
