Peter was sitting on the couch with a bowl of popcorn in front of him and a box of cookies from J. GOB.  He'd found some Coca-Cola (and still couldn't get over the fact it came in cans now) and was flipping through the channels on the TV.

Oooh, war movie.  That looked interesting.  The planes looked familiar too.  Peter sat forward in his seat as the title rolled.  Rescuing Corproral Smith?  Did they make movies about World War II now?

"Really? Which one is he?" Jamie said slightly puzzled. "And why does he wear a costume?"

"He's called Professor The Tick," Willow said. "I'm assuming it's a leitmotif."

"A what?" Jamie asked dumbly. "Sorry. Big words. No understand."

He grunted the last bit like he was a caveman.

"A theme," she clarified. "Either that or a fondness for blue combined with very specific sewing skills."

"Well blue is a good color for costumes," Jamie said with a nod. "It can be very patriotic."

"Depends on what country you're from," Willow pointed out. "If you're from China, not so much. Unless your name is Opposite Man."

Jamie considered something for a second. "I don't think Opposite Man would make a good moniker but I like the concept."

"True," Willow said. "Because for starters everybody would wonder if you were a bad guy only pretending to be good. Plus there might even be people who wondered if the 'man' part was an opposite too, though I guess that'd be moot depending on the type of costume you wore and what material it was made out of."

"Plus if he were a hero and a crime happened he would have to do the opposite of a hero and not stop the crime but go have a mocha latte at the local coffee shop," Jamie agreed. "So do you have like... superheroes where you are from?

"Not with costume and cape and helpful identifying symbols on their chest," Willow said, not sure if it was safe to tell Jamie about things like Slayers. "For those we're stuck with comics and TV. Though Xander sometimes gets pouty when I say that instead of graphic novels."

"Ah," Jamie said with understanding. "So we're talking the average good role model kind of hero but not the kind with weird powers or anything."

"My hero is my bestest female friend," Willow confirmed, which had the nice bonus of being true and yet still omitting a lot of detail.

"So what do you think of all the weird stuff that people can do around here?" Jamie asked with a somewhat concerned look on his face.

Willow looked nervous. "Like what sort of weird stuff?"

"Um... have you met any mutants here?" Jamie asked, also looking a little nervous himself.

"I met somebody who claimed to be a half-demon?" Willow offered, not sure if that counted.

"What if I told you that you already had met a mutant?" Jamie said cautiously. "Um. Namely me."

Willow tilted her head curiously. "I guess that'd depend on what you meant by mutant?"

"Well see I have this power that... ah hell. I'll just show you."

Jamie thumps his fist on the coffee table rather hard and suddenly there's another Jamie sitting next to him.

"This is what I do," Jamie explained waving at his duplicate. "I can take kinitec energy and duplicate myself. From where I'm from? Mutants aren't exactly liked very well. That's why I didn't tell anyone sooner."

Willow gasped, then looked scientifically fascinated. "Wow! How cool! Is one of you a vampire?"

Jamie blinked at the statement. "Um. No. Why would one of me be a vampire?"

"No reason!" Willow said, perhaps too brightly. "So - so is one of you the evil one? Only: no goatee, so I guess not?"

The two duplicates looked at each other and sighed.

"No. No evil ones," Jamie sighed.

"At least not yet," said his duplicate.

"Not. Going. To. Happen." Jamie shot back.

"Says you."

Jamie sighed and absorbed his duplicate. "They tend to be argumentative, but not evil."

"Wow," Willow said, her eyes wide. "So when you say you're of two minds about a subject, there's really two minds? Can you read each other's thoughts? Oh! Oh!!! Can you go to more than one class at the same time, because that would be so cool!"

"I have an empathic link to my duplicates which disappears whenever necessary by the writers but no direct control over them. However whenever I absorb a duplicate I gain any memories and skill they might have picked up since he was created," Jamie said with a small grin. "So yes, I can go to more than one class at one time."
