Sunday Evening - Fifth Floor Common Room

Peter was sitting on the couch with a bowl of popcorn in front of him and a box of cookies from J. GOB.  He'd found some Coca-Cola (and still couldn't get over the fact it came in cans now) and was flipping through the channels on the TV.

Oooh, war movie.  That looked interesting.  The planes looked familiar too.  Peter sat forward in his seat as the title rolled.  Rescuing Corproral Smith?  Did they make movies about World War II now?

"A Xander," Willow said. "This Xander isn't exactly the same as the one I left back home. He's younger and also gay. But they're very close. Except for the gay thing."

"I know exactly how you feel. Except it's my sister. And she's not precisely very happy at the moment."

"Oh no," Willow said, totally forgetting the language barrier they were facing. "Problem with her girlfriend then?"

Peter choked on the cookie he was biting into and spent a minute or two coughing before he could speak. After a copious application of Coke, he said, "Umm, no? Why would my sister have a girlfriend? I meant she's not the same as the one I left at home. She's about 20 years older and very sad."

"Oh," Willow said. "Did she fall into another dimension? Sometimes people have a rough time of it in other dimensions. Plus they get older."

"I don't particularly know. She hasn't told me what she thinks happened. Just something about me disappearing years ago with our other sister and brother and that she should have come," Peter shrugged.

"My friend Buffy? Her boyfriend went into a hell dimension for nobody knows how long," Willow said. "He wasn't too happy when he got out of it. Granted this was Angel so he wasn't exactly Mr. Singing A Chipper Tune before, but I still say he was broodier."

"Hmm," Peter considered the idea. "That makes a lot of sense. Maybe she had an experience like that. Though it begs the question: how does one randomly fall into a hell dimension? And more importantly, did he get better? Well, less broody?"

"Apparently he started dating somebody who wasn't Buffy," Willow said. "At least, the one here did. The one back where I live just sulked off to LA like some big, melodramatic jerk. Didn't even say good-bye."

"Those are not particularly the actions of a gentleman. On behalf of my gender, I offer an apology." Peter bowed from where he was seated.

"Oo, you bow?" Willow said, her face lighting up. "I like bowing. We don't do enough bowing. I'm told I can manage a mean curtsey myself when I'm actually wearing skirts."

"When the situation warrants, a bow appears. I can't stop them," Peter grinned. "I'm told the trick to a curtsey is all in the right knee. I've not tried it myself."

"I made a bowing situation?" Willow looked pleased. "Giles must've rubbed off on me. Only not literally because much, much older and also a figure of authority which means that any sort of contact there would've been very inappropriate, however tempting."

"It's your second bowing situation tonight. One more, and you win the prize," Peter said with a wink. "And got it. Absolutely no inappropriate rubbing situations from the authority figure. Seems like a plan destined to succeed."

Determined to push thoughts of Giles and rubbing out of her mind, Willow asked, "Is the prize another biscuit?"

Peter offered Willow the box of cookies with a flourish. "For you, my lady. You get a biscuit anyway."

Willow sat up straighter and tried to adopt a formal air. "Why thank you, my good sir."

She immediately dropped it, and grinned. "Did I do it right?"

"Perfectly! You'll be a lady of the Court in no time. Next you must attend a tournament and choose a knight as your champion."

"Do I get to wave delicately with hankerchefs?" Willow asked, miming waving a hankerchef at someone in a crowd. "That always seemed very regal, and yet practical if you had to sneeze."

"A silk handkerchief definitely. The cotton ones rather out of fashion this year," Peter kept a straight face and glanced sideways at Willow.

Totally falling for it, Willow made a face. "I don't know if I'd want to sneeze into silk. How would you clean it?"

"You'd have to have a maid for such work, of course," Peter barely kept a straight face at Willow's expression.

"Oh no!" Willow said, looking geniunely worried. "Now I'm oppressing the masses with my laundry needs!"

Peter started chuckling. "Not the masses unless you go through handkerchiefs at an amazing rate. Just one to look after you."

"Still! A mass! Of the masses!" Willow said. "I don't think I should be so la-di-dah about clothing and garments that I'm allowed to just cull somebody out of the herd just to make sure I always have a fresh hanky. Not that I'd wave a not-so-fresh one because that's not so much dainty as gross. But still. I can be a woman of her own soapsuds." Willow nodded firmly.
