Second Floor Common Room, Saturday Afternoon

After a ~~handwavy~~ trip into town for ingredients, Sam took the carefully printed recipe out of her pocket and laid it on the counter. She'd memorized it by now, but she figured it wouldn't hurt to get some practice in before the workshop.

The fact that the recipe didn't involve an open flame? Well, that was just being prudent.

"So, double boiler...." She began hunting for the appropriate hardware.

"The light blue part I get," Anakin said. "I was in the shower for an hour trying to not be quite as purple. But the duck pond part is going to need a story."

"Water makes gelatin dissolve," Sam explained, sticking a metal bowl and beaters in the refrigerator, "so I took a dive into the duck pond hoping it would follow me. It, er, didn't."

"Purple, huh?"

Anakin laughed. "Yeah, I can see how that should've worked. I've been in the pond a couple of times myself, so you have my sympathies."

He held his hand out in front of him, making sure he wasn't quite as purple as he'd been the night before. "Yeah. There was a purple one, and then an orange one. But I was so covered in purple that the orange didn't really stick."

"I decided I'd had enough after the blue dragon and the duck pond," Sam said, admiring the purple tinge to Anakin's hand. "But we totally need Jell-o remover."

"I bet that was a sentence you never thought you'd say," Anakin said. "But we can comfort ourselves with chocolate mousse."

"There are so many sentences I've said here that I never thought I'd say," she rolled her eyes, "and yes, if you feel up to it."

"You've seen Coruscant," Anakin said with a smile. "Nothing you can feed me will scare me."

She laughed. "Okay, good point."

"I have my moments," Anakin said with a cheeky smile.

"Careful, or I'll make you help," Sam threatened.

"I'm a good cook," Anakin claimed.

He soooo wasn't.

"Grab a whisk, then," she dared him.

"Okay," he said, standing up and walking over.

After only a few seconds pause, he grabbed the correct instrument. "Where do you need me?" he asked.

"Um," Sam checked the recipe, "Egg whites and cream of tartar get whisked together until soft peaks form."

Anakin nodded, then cracked an egg into a bowl and frowned at it. "Do you have eggs that just have whites in them?" he asked. "This one has yellow stuff in it, too."

Sam stared at him and held out her hand. "I'm revoking your whisking rights."

Anakin pouted and clung tightly to the whisk. "Why?"

"Because you have to separate the yolks from the whites and your question scares me." Sam told him honestly.

"At home you can get pre-separated eggs," Anakin lied, staring at the bowl and still keeping a death-grip on the whisk. He closed his eyes and concentrated.

The yolk floated out of the bowl and into the sink. "There," Anakin said, sounding satisfied. "Happier?"

"Show-off," Sam snickered.

"Do I get to keep the whisk?" Anakin asked.

Because that was the important part.

"Yes," Sam said, amused.

Anakin didn't say "yay." But the smile on his face was remarkably "yay"-like.

"Okay," he said. "What's cream of tartar?"

Sam handed him a little plastic container. "I don't know what it does, but this is it. The recipe should say how much we need, and here are the measuring spoons," she handed them over.

Anakin wrinkled his nose as he dumped the correct amount into the bowl of egg whites. "Doesn't look like cream," he commented.
