Pangolin Campfire [Monday Evening]

Bridge has tacked a large white bedsheet to the wall of Koala cabin that faces the Pangolin campfire. RIC is nearby, in DVD-player mode, with the second season of Twilight Seraphim loaded and ready to play. There's snack foods, and, of course, s'more fixings, for sharing if anyone else cared to join him.

"Right, what's your position on allowing interplanetary aliens guest worker status?" Parker asked, her lips twitching.

"I say that if they're willing to deal with the USCIS, thus proving that they're qualified to receive the appropriate visa, then I'd say to go for it," said Elizabeth, her face perfectly straight. "No illegal aliens though."

"And your stance on the right to bear stun weapons taken from other cultures? Wouldn't that promote violence in our schools?"

"Stun weapons from other cultures are heavily regulated and are certainly preferable than bearing firearms," said Elizabeth promptly. "Our lack of gun control is certainly more responsible for promoting violence in our schools."

"What's your take on the Earth becoming a hyperspace bypass a major tourism source for the intergalactic types? Don't you fear our native cultures will become crushed under the pressure of greater technology?" Parker's lips are twitching, but she's got one eyebrow up.

"I feel that enough culture has already been crushed under the pressure of greater technology, thanks to the United States trying to impose it's hegemony over the world," said Elizabeth calmly. "Intergalactic tourism would need to be implemented in a similar fashion to ecotourism."

"Madam President, is it true that you're involved in a group marriage with a walking rug from Alpha Centauri, an opera singer from Pluto, a pink shellfish from Sagittaron, and Michael Douglas? And if so, can I have his autograph?"

Elizabeth bent over, giggling. "All vicious rumors, lies and fairytales invented by the Republicans," she said.

"Darn them. Getting my hopes up like that." Parker grinned. "Why are you taking this class, again?"

"My lying skills aren't as good as they once was," shrugged Elizabeth. "Besides, I thought it would be fun."

"I think it will be a lot of fun." Parker grinned. "At least judging by today."

Elizabeth nodded. "Definitely," she said. "Jarod's pretty skilled in his character adoptions."

Parker's eyes might have widened, but her voice stayed steady. "He did some profiling in his last job. Plus, he's a big ham. I'm just glad the class went well, he gets nervous."

Elizabeth might have noticed the eye widening, but chose not to mention it. "His nerves didn't show at all," she said. "That's always a good sign."

"I'll tell him you said so. He likes teaching things." Parker suddenly had an image of Jarod doing just that, nothing else, and sobered for a second. But only a second "But more importantly? Extra time with the boyfriend."

Elizabeth grinned. "That's always good. I sometimes forget how lucky Janet and I are with the amount of time we get to spend together."

"Definitely," Parker grumbled. "Sometimes I wish he were a student here. Except if I had classes with him, I'm probably strangle him before the end of one week."

Elizabeth smiled. "And that would be bad," she nodded. "So perhaps it's a good thing he's not a student?"

"Overall, sure." Parker pouted. "I just wish he had the magic power to teleport into my bedroom."

She waited a moment.

"And clearly, he can't read minds at this distance, either."

Elizabeth giggled. "That might be considered by many a good thing," she pointed out.

"Yes, well, they're not sleeping alone in a dorm or cabin, are they?" Parker grumped. "Mmmph. And on that note, I have ice cream waiting for me, along with chat with Zero. Yell if we get too loud, okay?"

"Will do, don't worry," said Elizabeth. "I won't be much longer out here and then I get to try and sleep alone myself."
