2nd Floor Common Room - Sunday Evening

Veronica and Archie decided to commandeer the second floor common room to use the good TV to watch Buccaneers of the Sea Not Entirely Unlike the Caribbean. There were homemade cookies and some other assorted snacks if anyone wanted to join them.

"As Veronica does when she watches Vanessa Saturn, apparently, so it seems I'm in good company." Archie chuckled. "It's been far too long. How are you?"

Elizabeth snickered. "I'm pretty good, thanks. How about you?" she asked.

"Well and happy overall, I'd have to say," Archie replied. "Though the end of the summer is suddenly looming and I'm getting nervous about leaving."

"You're going?" asked Elizabeth, her eyes widened slightly. "I didn't realize that. Where are you going to be going to?"

"California, with Veronica," explained Archie. "There's quite the interest in sailing ships from my era in some museums along the coast there, and I'd like to find some way to contribute my knowledge."

Elizabeth smiled slightly. "Sounds perfect for you then," she said. "We'll miss you here though."

"I'll miss you all too," Archie said, sincerely. "But I think the next phase of my education is going to have to continue elsewhere."

Elizabeth nodded slowly. "Yeah, I can understand that," she said. "I guess it'll just mean we'll have to all vacation in California!"

Archie grinned. "It's a large state. I'm sure there's room for you all!"

Elizabeth laughed. "Good thing too, because it seems as though a number of former students are going to end up there," she said. "There and Harvard seem to be pretty popular destinations."

Archie nodded. "That makes reunions a bit easier. I wonder why those two destinations are so popular?"

Elizabeth shrugged. "Harvard's one of the best schools in the country, so it'll attract the high achievers amongst us," she said. "And California? The weather perhaps?"

"I can see that. The weather was certainly a pleasant surprise the last time I was there." Archie sighed loudly at the television. "No, no, no, why in God's name would you even do that?"

Elizabeth giggled at the television. "That bad?" she asked.

"It's about how you'd feel if they had portrayed a political process entirely backwards," Archie said, grimacing.

Elizabeth winced. "Maybe you could become a technical adviser for Hollywood?" she suggested. "Stop these sort of atrocities."

"I've considered it," Archie said, still glowering at the screen. "Sometime in the near future, certainly. I need to start somewhere a bit more down-to-earth first, though."

Elizabeth nodded. "Yeah, that's perfectly understandable," she said. "Any specific place you're looking to work at?"

Archie hesitated. "I don't want to bring bad luck on myself before I get there, but I had one of the maritime museums in mind, at least to begin with."

Elizabeth smiled. "I understand," she said. "I think you'd be perfect there and they'd be a fool to pass you by. personally."
