Second floor common room [Evening]

Anakin had spent most of the day brooding meditating and replaying the trip to Coruscant in his mind.

The thoughts it had led to had been entirely too depressing.

That's why he had migrated up to the second floor common room and commandeered the television set.

Not that the last Space Battles prequel was any less depressing, but he could keep himself entertained by mocking the terrible technology and equally terrible dialogue.

Aeryn could look happier when she walks by the common room. A lot happier. She's really only here because there are maybe three or four people who could get a normal conversation out of her, and everyone else would get bitched at. Either way, it's a win/win.

"Hey Aeryn," Jamie said popping open a soda. "How're you doing?"

Aeryn greets him with, "Bad day. You?"

"Great day," Jamie said with a giant grin. "Just a fantabulous day of days. Why was yours bad?"

"Conversation gone wrong," she says carefully. "Nothing that won't be corrected by tomorrow. Why was yours good?"

"Conversation that went great," Jamie said trying not to bounce. "But the conversation was yesterday but it was great enough to carryover until today so it's still pretty great."

"You had a conversation worth two days?" she asks. "Congratulations."

"Thank you!" Jamie beamed. "I'm sorry your conversation wasn't great. Is there anything I can do?"

She shakes her head. "It'll fix itself. I appreciate the offer, though."

"Are you sure?" Jamie said looking concerned. "Because I can loan you a sock puppet if it would help."

"Oh, no, that's all right," she says quickly.

"Really. I have spares," Jamie said pulling one out of his pocket. "It can be very therapeutic. Would you like to talk to the sock about your feelings?"

"No, not at all. But you should feel more than free." Again, said quickly.

Callisto grunted at Aeryn.

Aeryn kind of grunts back.

Then things better of it and asks, "How are you doing?"

"Men are bastards."

"Sometimes they might been to be hit a little," she admits, though she's not willing to lump them all together. "Any one in particular?"

"Which one do you think?"

She doesn't need to ask. "It's so bad you're generalizing all males into it?"

Aeryn raises her eyebrows. "Should I lend you a pulse rifle and... some mode of transportation?"

"I appreciate the offer, but I doubt he possesses enough braincells to take the hint."

"You think I need something less subtle?"

"Maybe more subtle," she says. And then remembers this is Angel. "Maybe a little less."
