Main Campfire - Evening

Isabel and Cameron had managed to get the campfire going in the main area. Luckily the weather was a lot clearer than yesterday and things had remained dry. There were several containers with snacks and beverages standing along the side and there was an abundance of marshmallows for people to get through a whole weekend with.

And now it was just a matter of waiting for people to show up and recapture the cabin spirit one last time before fall and winter truly set in.


((Open like an open thing. There were posters up yesterday so there's no excuse for your character not to know about it! Unless, of course, you happen to have a stubborn one who has trouble reading stuff. Ah, aren't you blessed if you do.))

Tyler nodded a greeting to Cam. "So how's life?"

"Yo, Tyler," Cameron nodded back. "Life's pretty good. It brought marshmallows," he said, holding up a bag. "How are you doing?"

"Marshmallows," Tyler said, swallowing a sticky mouthful, "make many things better."

"We went on a field trip inside my science teacher," Tyler said. "That was weird."

"Uh..." Cameron stared at Tyler. There were certain things you never expected to hear and this was definitely one of them. "I bet. Talk about too much information."

"You think?," Tyler said. "She has this bus and it ... goes places. It's weird. I don't get why she doesn't just use Danger Shop like everyone else."

"Because it's more real?" he wondered, still blinking at the mental image of going inside your teacher.

"I guess," Tyler said. "And hey, yay for realism. But it was a very strange class. I'm glad we get a break."

"I don't think I can blame you," Cameron said. "Where the other places at least more normal?"

"If you ignore that a bus can't go under water and people don't turn into light ... well, then yes," Tyler said. "Fandom normal, at best."

"People don't turn into light?" he blinked. "Yeah, apparently. I'm getting kind of curious now. Even if I'd prefer the whole 'seeing a teacher from the inside' thing."

"Take it next term and all your curiosity will be satisfied," Tyler said. "Me, I'm happy the term's half over. She's an okay teacher, but the class makes the surrealism workshop look normal."

Cameron chuckled. "I guess the administration was worried that some people are still sane."

"If there are any left, it's an accident on their parts," Tyler said. "So what're you going to tell people about this place after you graduate?"

"I think I might just pretend I went to a regular school. I don't feel like having them kick me out of the Academy because they think I've got mental issues," Cameron said. "What about you?"

"I'll probably keep quiet about it," Tyler agreed. "It's not like people would believe me if I started talking about Jello dragons, anyhow."

"No, probably not. Which is sort of a shame. I wouldn't mind the occasional jello dragon invasion when I'm back in home."

Tyler looked surprised for a moment, then laughed. "It'd make sure you wren't bored," he said. "And probably easier to fight than whatever you'd face in the Air Force."

"You've probably got a point there. It'd be kind of cool getting to shoot them down while they're flying," he remarked, possibly trying to imagine what it'd be like.

"Probably messy for people on the ground," Tyler said. "But it'd rock to be the person doing it."

"That was the part I was going for," Cameron snickered. "And hey, jello rain can't be worse than pudding rain."

"I was thinking more about, like, the head landing right in front of some old lady," Tyler said. "Though she'd probably just think it was a strange place for a Jello mold."

"I think it'd sort of splash apart if it fell from that high," Cameron said even as he was laughing at the mental image.

Tyler tried to picture it. "Not if it was extra-tough jello," he said, cracking up. "But then it'd bounce."

"It could bowl people over," Cameron said, laughing as well.

"...and now I kind of want to dive-bomb the dorms with balloons full of Jello," Tyler said.
