Nadia was sitting upside down on the couch, munching on a chicken empanada and reading a book.

The adventures of six miss-matched characters across a make-believe world were surprisingly engaging.

Marty came in and flopped down on the couch. "Hey everyone. What's on TV?"

Angela reached out and grabbed his shoelace and pulled. "Hi."

Marty smiled and cocked an eyebrow. "Hi. How was your weekend?"

"Soooo boring," Angela said. She was still tugging on the laces.

"I'm tying your shoelaces together as an act of revenge."

"Well you could tie my shoelaces together but then you won't get my cheezy Vegas gift," Marty said with a smug look.

That got Angela to stop tugging on his shoelaces for the moment. 'Is it Liberace-themed?"

Marty grinned. "Well you did request glitter..."

"And cheez," Angela said. "Do you have it with you?"

"I might," Marty said. "Depends on whether or not you re-tie my shoes."

"That's blackmail," Angela pointed out reasonably, and gave his shoelaces another tug.

"That's not blackmail. I'm just requesting that you return my shoelaces to their original state of tied-ness," Marty responded also as reasonably.

"But, see, I'm seeing them from a different angle," Angela said, beginning to knot the laces of both shoes together. "So I can't tie them exactly the way you did. Unless I sit in your lap or something."

"Gosh. Well if you have to sit in my lap to do it right? I can't argue with that logic whatsoever," Marty said gleefully.

"Nothing. TV isn't on. Hiya, Marty!"

"Hey. You have fun in Vegas? I was handwavy all over the place last weekend."

"Yep. I won some money, nearly got into a fight in a strip club . . . all in all, fun times."

"Oh yeah? What was the fight about?"

"One of the women thought Walter worked there. And a bunch of others didn't believe he was my boyfriend. And gay."

"They thought Walter was a stripper?"

"Apparently. This one woman gave him five bucks to take off his shirt."

"Did he hold out for ten?" Marty asked.

"No," Nadia gave Marty a dirty look. "I staked my claim. The woman wasn't very happy, but I did give her her five bucks back."

"Well if he wasn't going to take his shirt off, that's only fair," Marty reasoned. "So why did the fight start? She got her five bucks back and Walter got to keep his shirt on."

"It didn't. I said I almost got into a fight. Got into a lot of kissing, instead."
