5th Floor Common Room - Monday, late afternoon

Annette was laying on the couch, on her belly, ankles crossed; a pillow shoved up under her arms. She was flipping through the television channels, not really paying attention to what was on. A minute here a minute there, nothing really snapping out at her. Her mind was too preoccupied thinking about who and what she met and talked to over the weekend. It was totally...mind consuming.

Frozen pizza was in the oven cooking. She knew she could do that. Just had to take the plastic off and stick it in the oven. She forgot to read how long it took to cook though. When she could smell it good, then she would know it was done. Hopefully. Annette wasn't too bright in the kitchen department.

"Hey 'oomie," Cally said, sitting down next to Annette on the couch.

"Hey, Cally. What's up?" Annette said, scooting back a bit so she wasn't hogging the couch.

"Old friend is back in town," Cally said. "So... good stuff, actually."

"Who's that?" She asked, mildly curious.

"Xander Harris," Cally said. "He graduated 'n May." She relaxed up against the couch.

Nadia wandered into the common room after dropping off her package for Walter. "Hey. What's cooking?"

"The flesh of 'irgins," Cally said, deadpan.

Nadia tried not to wince visibly. It hadn't been like she was avoiding Cally . . . not really. That would imply she'd put some conscious effort or decision making into not seeing the other girl for awhile.

It was just that, well, seeing Cally made her feel guilty.

Not that she'd let her know that.

"Okay, please tell me that's a joke and you didn't get stuck as some kind of flesh eating demon after this weekend."

"If I got stuck as a flesh eating demon after the weekend, do you think I'd let myself look 'ike this, still?" Cally asked.

"Maybe it's to lull us into a false sense of security?" Nadia said flippantly, hiding another wave of guilt.

"Hey, Nadia," Annette said from her comfy spot on the couch. "Pizza."

"Exciting. Glad things are back to normal?"

"Yeah," she said without much enthusiasm. "And ohhh yeah."

"You okay? You look a little tired."

It was her, wasn't it? Maybe. She could always ask.

She pulled out the little baggie marked 'oui' and fiddled with it nervously.

"Hi! Do you, uh, happen to be missing things?" She squinted at the bag. "Like some paperclips and ... oh, no, is that a room key?!?"

Nadia turned and stared. "I was wondering where that went!"

She held the bag out in front of her and fidgeted. "Er, yeah! That was me. I'm really sorry about that and I'll never do it again and I hope you were okay without it. I'm not usually like this but you're probably mad and that's okay. But I really am sorry." Any time now, if the ground could swallow her up, that would be great.

Nadia took the bag and looked through it. "Yeah, that's my key alright. It was okay, I know how to pick locks. Let me guess, side effect of this weekend?"

"Listen, I hear through the grapevine that you're investigating the attacks?"

Huh. Billy was starting to suspect that he'd spent more time in the 5th floor common room than any other floor. It was almost as cool as the 4th.
