First Floor Lobby: Sunday afternoon

Finals started tomorrow, so Jack was - surprisingly enough - studying.

He was doing it in a very Jack way, though. He'd claimed the biggest couch in the first floor lobby as his own and was currently sprawled across it, shirtless, sucking on a lollipop while he flipped through a textbook.

Propped up at each end of the couch was a sign which read--

"Worried about Finals?

Lick a Seahorse for Luck!

The table next to him held several empty coffee cups, with books and notes piled haphazardly next to them, and sitting underneath it - where it wouldn't be immediately apparent to anyone walking past - was a large box, filled with lollipops that he would happily share.

"It would certainly make things more orderly, no lines of people, pushing and shoving." He started to wander back to his couch, fingers trailing down her arm to grasp hers and he pulled gently, trying to draw her after him. "Possibly cut down on unnecessary injuries."

"Yes, because it's the necessary ones we need to keep in their regular numbers," Sam teased, following after him.

Snickering, he dropped to sit and patted the couch next to him. "Well, they're inevitable, you know. There's only of of you, and there's got to be hundreds of people who want you, so there's bound to be fistfights in the line."

"Careful," she warned, curling into his side on the couch, "you keep saying things like that and there won't be room for my head in the lobby."

"That's a risk I'm willing to take," he said, turning to kiss her hair as he slipped an arm around her. "You're highly desirable, Sam. I know you can do anything you decide you want to."

"I think you've licked too many seahorses," Sam told him, smirking a little, "Is there a warning on those? Like, 'licking too many seahorses may be hazardous to your health'?"

Jack poked her in the side. "Stop that. I try and be nice..." He sighed exaggeratedly and rolled his eyes. "And if too much seahorse licking is hazardous to one's health?" He grinned and moved so he was half kneeling over her. "You're going to be in big trouble. Maybe we should get you to the clinic now."

"I have an immunity," Sam told him, straight-faced.

"Uh huh, sure you do," he said dubiously. "Built up over time?"

"Time and concentrated contact," she nodded.

"I really like the sound of that," he murmured, nuzzling her neck. "Just you and me, with time and concentrated contact."

"Mmmmmm. Can't say it's the worst idea ever..."

"I should hope not." Jack pulled away a little, resting his head on the back of the couch, just smiling at her while he traced his fingers up and down her arm. "I have a final, first thing tomorrow morning. This concentrated contact idea of yours sounds like a good way to get over it."

"It so happens I have Monday free," she said, "especially since I'm going to flunk the final in Ares's class no matter what I do."

Jack suspected there was a guaranteed way to pass Ares's class, but as he wanted to continue living he wasn't going to mention it, even as a joke. "I might be flunking it with you," he said, threading his fingers through hers. "This is starting to sound like the beginnings of a plan."

"Does the Time Agency care?" She asked, curious.

"Doubt it." Jack shrugged one shoulder. "I've got my place, Christmas cemented it. They want me. And in three weeks they'll come and get me," he said quietly, watching his finger as it drew patterns on her shoulder. "Just waiting to hear exactly when."

"They haven't told you yet?"

"The week after graduation is all I know," he explained. "I'll get specific details - time and date and place - closer to then."

Sam nodded. She didn't have any departure details to offer, but that was mostly because she wasn't sure she was going to be leaving with him. "Are you excited?"

"Sort of." He smiled crookedly. "Yes to going, no to leaving, if that makes sense."

"It makes perfect sense--I feel the same way."

"Kind of sucks, doesn't it? The leaving part." He snagged a lollipop out of the box and started fiddling with it.

"No kind of about it," she laid her head on his shoulder.

I'm going to miss you. But he didn't say it, just rested his head against hers. "No, no maybe about it."
