First Floor Lobby, evening

After visiting the big picnic, and picking out most of the new people by sight, Evie retired back to the dorms and settled into the lobby couch to people-watch. With a book. Or possibly, five.

"World that..." A.J. blinked, and then stared at Demyx, and then shook his head. "You know, I had my fill of strange, weird stories today. The zombies at the bar did it for me, pushed me right up against that limit, sooooo...maybe we should talk later, tomorrow, or something, after sleep and resetting my weird stuff meter."

"It's weird?" Demyx blinked. "I'm more normal than some people, actually. Well, aside from some things..." He paused. "I'll hold off, though."

"We could talk about the normal stuff?" A.J. prompted. "Normal stuff is good. Like...art. Or girls. Or music, or something."

"Music?" Demyx's eyes lit up. "Do you play?"

"No," A.J. laughed a little, "but I can dance. I take it you do play?"

"Yeah. It's really about all I can do." Demyx grinned, pulling his sitar out of the air. "I've kinda resigned myself to it."

A.J. blinked. "Did you just pull that out of the air, or did I just have more to drink that I thought I did?"

"Huh? Oh, this?" Demyx strummed a chord. "I control water. I made it out of the water in the air. It's really simple."

A.J. sucked in a breath. "So much for music being a safe topic."

"You mean it's not?" Demyx blinked at him. "What's your favorite kind of music?"

"It's all music," Demyx told him feelingly. "That's what matters most. But I like music you can dance to. I actually have Dancers. Or...well, I did." For a moment, he looked sad, but he perked back up quickly. "That's okay, though. They weren't very good."

"Were they..." A.J. drew in a breath, hoping he didn't regret asking this, "made of water and air, too?"

"No," Demyx replied, laughing. "Of course not."

"Well," A.J. blinked, feeling that that was very anticlimactic, now, wasn't it? "Um, good. And, well...should you need dancers, sir," he adopted a bit of a formal, business-like tone, "I offer you to you my services. I'm quite skilled in the performance art of Bad White Jersey Boy Dancing."

"But you aren't a Nobody," Demyx pointed out, staring at A.J. "How can you be a Dancer without being a Nobody?" It might not seem like a confusing thing for a normal person who didn't notice the capitalizations.

A.J. definitely didn't notice the capitalizations. He might, on a day he was feeling perceptive and not buzzed, but this wasn't only of those days. "But anyone can dance..." he said, warily, trying not to frown like a kicked puppy, but that just sort of happened beyond his control.

"Yeah, but...well, I guess I'd have to see you dance. There's not really very many Nobodies here." He looked sad. "I'm not one-of-a-kind, exactly, but we're a rare breed."

A.J. frowned worriedly, for the sake of his comprehension and his sanity. "But you're obviously somebody, 'cause your right there...."

"Well, no." Demyx rubbed the back of his neck, trying to think. "Um...didn't you say you didn't want the 'weird stuff' tonight? Because it tends to confuse people."

A.J. slumped his shoulders slightly. It was the kind of move that suggested he wanted to slump on Demyx, slump on someone but he didn't want to be rude. "I'm already confused."

Demyx reacted without thinking, putting an arm around A.J. and patting his shoulder. "It's okay. You really do get used to it. Even I've managed to turn out okay. It's just a lot at first, huh?"

A.J. sighed heavily. "Uh, yeah. And the...well, the drinking probably isn't helping." He let out a small laugh.

"Drinking always makes things worse," Demyx agreed, wrinkling his nose at a few particular memories. "There was no glitter involved, right?"

"Glitter?" A.J.'s laugh was a confused one, yes.
