Cor hadn't had a chance to speak to Seely yet, but he was eager to try to get on his good side. He was a good enough man to come after Aravis when she was in trouble and he was Aravis'...friend. That was enough to make him approach Seely when he saw him in the gym. "Seely, hello!" Cor greeted with a wave as he came over. "Can I join you?"

Seely hit the bag a few more times before replying.

For no reason.

"Sure, why not."

Cor stepped up. "Do you have someone visiting this weekend?"

"Caroline," Seely replied shortly. "Friend of my father's."

"Is this a good thing?" Cor wasn't too sure.

"Yeah, sure, it's wonderful."

Seely risked a quick look over his shoulder just to make sure that Caroline wasn't suddenly going to appear.

"Sarcasm," Cor realised after a moment. He really didn't need to say that out loud. "Do you want to spar?" That was so not a good idea.

Seely grinned. "I'd love to," he said with complete sincerity.

This was going to end well, really.

Cor really needed to work on his sense of self-preservation. Walking away from the bag, he moved into the open space and got into a beginning stance. "How has Aravis been since you both returned from Archenland?"

Seely tugged off his shirt as he followed Cor, tossing it aside and bringing his fists up. "Sleeping a little better than she was."

Cor faltered for a moment, then decided to follow suit. He took his own shirt off and put it aside. "No more visitors? Father has had more patrols out looking for any Calormene soldiers who might try to get through our borders to come here."

Seely figured it might look a bit suspicious if he tried to maim Cor right off the bat, so he aimed a fairly soft jab at his midsection. "None, and if there were, they wouldn't have made it back to Calormen."

Cor stepped back enough to soften the blow even more, but not to avoid it. He countered with a jab of his own to Seely's left arm. "I'm glad she has friends here to protect her. Not that Aravis always needs protecting, but sometimes she doesn't think to do it herself."

"And I love that about her." Seely let the blow connect, twisting to soften it. He responded with another, harder jab. "But what doesn't know was threatening her, won't give her nightmares afterwards."

The reason Cor fell down a lot was because he was considerably bad at dodging. He didn't fall down this time, but he did take the blow and was slightly winded by it. "You think keeping things from her is such a good idea?"

Seely took the opportunity to follow up with a hard right hook. "Depends on what that thing is."

This time, Cor fell. Fortunately, he was as good at getting back up as he was of falling down. He pushed himself back up. "I don't think Aravis would agree." That was hypocritical of him.

At least Seely waited long enough for Cor to get back up before trying to hit him again? "Which is why she wouldn't find out about not telling her."

Cor didn't fall down. He even managed to get off another jab of his own. "I know you're from a different world and all, but half the time I don't understand what you're saying."

Seely twisted with the blow, then aimed a return punch at Cor's stomach. "What's so hard to understand about not wanting Aravis upset?"

Doubling over, it took Cor a moment to get his breath back. He stumbled back a few paces to do so. "You say you wouldn't want to upset her, but if she found out, she'd be upset as much." Cor then took a page out of his brother's book and charged Seely, using his left shoulder to try to bump into the other boy while using his right fist to try to hit him.

Seely grunted as Cor's fist connected. "Different kind of upset," he said, attempting to jab his elbow into his solar plexus.

"Girls may be complicated, but upset is up-oomph!" The jab connected and Cor found himself doubling over again, winded and in pain.

"You obviously don't know many girls." Pity that.

"I know plenty of girls!" He didn't.
