Little Dipper Campfire [evening]

Okay, so Kaylee was learning her way around the whole campfire thing, now that the rain had let up for a little bit. Tonight, she had equipped herself with marshmallows and sticks, as well as graham crackers and chocolate.

She was, perhaps, a little overly proud of herself for managing a real Earth thing without help from anyone.

Not that she'd really successfully made a s'more yet. She kept burning her marshmallows.

"You'd think," Cal couldn't help commenting as he passed by an active fire, "people would get sick of something like this after a week, but it never gets old, does it?"

He gave an idle glance around at the empty spaces around it, then shrugged slightly at the girl there. "Mind company?"

"Not at all," she said cheerfully, waving the guy she didn't know over. "And I'm not sure I'll ever get sick of it. Kinda a luxury for me."

"Thanks," Cal said as he took a seat, settling his elbows on his knees as he looked into the fire a little with a tilted head. "You've got the burning part down pretty good, there, don't you?"

"I'm real good at it," she agreed, frowning a little. "Haven't quite got the hang of toastin' 'em right. Want one? Um, not one of the burned ones."

"More melty marshmallows?" Ned asked, peeking out from inside the cabin.

"Burny ones, mostly," she said, frowning a little.

"You know how you can stop that?" Ned asked, amused.

"How?" she asked eagerly.

"Hey, roomie who I've barely roomed with," Dick said. "Miss me?"

Ned frowned and thought about it.

"Should I be missing you?" he finally asked.

"Ned." Cal gave the guy he remembered only on the merit of his next comment a slight nod. "Any luck on that boat?"

"I've given up on that for now," Ned said, shrugging. "You haven't run away either."

"Every time I make it over to a campfire there are s'mores," Dick noted. "Are you sharing?"

"Sure am! Couldn't eat them all myself," Kaylee laughed. "Just most of them. Maybe."

"Well, it's nice that you're sharing thanks to biological limits," Dick said. "Kaylee, right? We have Winchester's workshop together."

"I find that burnt Marshmallows are the best," Worf observed from his sentry location at the campfire.

"Yeah?" Kaylee asked, raising a brow. "How come?"

"I like the charred texture," Worf replied. "Crispy on the outside. Creamy on the inside."

Of all the weird things Dick had seen so far in Fandom, this guy's forehead wasn't all that bad. After all, he'd seen that wrestler, Killer Croc, a few times and he was completely scaly. So a forehead ridge wasn't terribly unexpected.

"I'd go with slightly singed, personally," Dick said.

"But only with a good char does the true flavor of the marshmallow come out," Worf replied, still keeping an eye out for ne'er do wells.

Jaina didn't feel like being cooped up in her cabin tonight, and decided maybe it would be a good idea to see who was out before starting her own campfire. So she was glad to see people she knew already out. "Your campfire saves me the trouble," she greeted them. "Hi."

"Hi! Marshmallow?" Kaylee offered brightly.

"Are you going to cook it and everything, or is that my job?" she grinned, taking a seat on a log.

"Welcome," Worf said continuing to stand almost as a sentry. "Sit. Enjoy the fire."

"Hey, Worf," she said. "Planning on sitting anytime soon? Kicking back and enjoying yourself some?"
