3rd Floor CR, Monday Morning

The first weird thing was that Claire woke up early during her week off.

The second weird thing was that she didn't just want to hang out in her room all day. So she took her sketchbook and a set of pastels and went to the common room to curl up on a couch and draw ... she wasn't sure yet. It might just be her coffee mug. Maybe her coffee mug in spaaaaaaace.

The TV was on and tuned to some soap opera, but Claire wasn't paying enough attention to say what it was about.

[OOC: Open like a CR.]

"I see I wasn't the only one who woke up early," Ned said, peeking into the common room with the air of someone who thought he might be disrupting. "That seems typical of vacation days. The ability sleep in means it won't happen."

"Decent," he said, still surprised by that. "I was here so no jet lag for me. Surprising since I haven't put flying out of this island's skill set. Did you go home?"

"Moved but I don't think it flew." Though, really, he'd never asked or thought about it. "Nothing much happened here. There were tiny carolers and it rained gold coins but that's getting to be typical."

Pause.

"Which is scary."

"About like that, yeah," he said and laughed. "I don't...think they were children but they were definitely small. And singing. They sang a lot. I haven't heard that much Christmas music since a radio back home broke while it was on the Christmas station."

"...both?" Ned winced in sympathy. "How did that happen?"

"It is quiet around the dorms," Viki said, informing the room at large. "I do not mind it, though it's a bit unusual for so long, I would think. Good morning, if you wish it."

That got a bit of a grin.

"I do," Viki decided, wandering over to see what sort of cereal there was in the cupboard. "It would seem rather defeatist to say otherwise as of yet, don't you think? And I think there's some sort of trip going on? So it may not change."

She mused on that as she picked a cereal with more sugar than anything else in it, and poured a bowl of it. "Though, again, I would guess it is hard to tell this early."

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-12-29 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Just a guess," she said, putting the cereal back and getting the milk from the fridge and pouring some in the bowl. "And not based on anything other than the fact that a trip would, chances are, be popular."

Milk back in the fridge and then she wandered out with her bowl of cereal. "I do not even have a roommate so truly, nothing to base that on but a feeling, and the quiet around."

"My roommate had to go home," she said, with a shrug. "And I did not bother to request a new one."

Dor wandered into the room and waved at the people as he went to the coffee machine only to notice a new pot needed to be brewed. "How does this work again?" He asked the coffee machine.

The machine groaned. "How many times do I have to tell you this?" it complained.

"Just one more time," dor promised as he went to find the filters. That much he remembered.

"Hi Claire!" Dor said cheerfully. "If it makes you feel any better, I think it's weird to brew coffee or pour milk from a container."

[identity profile] talks2objects.livejournal.com 2008-12-29 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, it's grown in plant," Dor replied. "We just break open a pod and drink straight from it. Which sounds a lot more sanitary than getting it from a cow if you think about it."

"Soy?" Dor asked as he opened up the fridge and looked inside. "What is that?"
