Fourth Floor Common Room [evening]

Given how many of her conversations that afternoon had turned to food, Sookie had found herself kind of homesick in spite of herself, especially after facing the prospect of eating what she found in the common room.

So, she took it upon herself to run out and grab some fresh ingredients, and returned back to the common room to boil some rice and throw everything moddable that she'd bought and found that looked good into the pot to make some jambalaya.

She'd taken a little more care and put together a berry cobbler, admittedly using frozen berries. Her gran had always said it tasted the same anyway, so long as you used enough butter.

She kept the TV on while she cooked and familiarized herself with the kitchen, and tried to adjust to the technology and appliances that were ten years ahead of her time. It was fairly easy to figure out, even if some of the commercials threw her for a loop.

"Marco!" she beamed. "I've not seen you in like, forever!"

"I went home for a few weeks." Marco said, ignoring the month he spent playing video games in his room and being emo.

"Yah, how was that?" she asked.

"I was on Jay Leno, Oprah, CNN, and a couple of other shows." Marco said casually.

"Shut up!" she said, grinning wide. "What for?"

"Oh, did I forget to tell you the whole world saving thing?" Marco said, totally casually. Really.

Did he? She couldn't remember and even if he did, it was still mind boggling and she would mind boggle probably each and every time he said it.

"Awesome. Seriously."

"Totally." Marco agreed. "And I brought recordings of all the showings and stuff."

"Oh? So you like want to show me and stuff?" she ventured with small chuckle.

"Totally." Marco said. "I'll make a viewing for all of the school even."

"Yah? You're not like going to charge, are you?"

Marco considered this. "For you? Free of charge." He said with his best fake New York accent. It wasn't very good.

But it made her laugh. "How kind, you are!"

Marco did a mock bow. "We aim to please the missuses."

"Yah, so you don't have a girlfriend yet?"

"You were taken my dove." Someone should really just put the poor boy out of his misery.

Amber cracked up laughing. "Oh, hush!"

Marco fake sniffled. "You wound me so."

"Oh, I do not, and look, I am so totally flirty with you right now. You cutie you."

Marco's sniffling instantly stopped. "Yes you are. And cute too."

"You think I'm cute?" She just wanted to hear him say it again.

"Absolutely adorable." He reassured her.

"That deserves a kiss on the cheek," she dared to say.

Marco cheekily offered up a cheek.

And Amber leaned in to kiss it.
