Super Bowl Party, 1st Floor Rec Room, Sunday Afternoon

Thanks to KKG and a little ingenuity, the first floor rec room was arranged for a Super Bowl Party. Black, yellow, red and white crepe paper hung from the walls, a good chunk of the seating in the dorms had been dragged into the room for the crowd, and a table was full of assorted snacks guaranteed to destroy arteries and waistlines alike.

Even if you just wanted to see the commercials, it would probably be a fun time.

"Good," he said, picking up some chips and examining them before putting them in his mouth. "And you?"

"Very good! Ice cream and sparring, mostly. I found someone else who knows hand-to-hand, we had a good go-round on Friday." She popped another chip in her mouth and chewed. "You and Arthur didn't make out in a shack, right?"

What? She was pretty sure it hadn't happened, but....

"In a shack?" Leto should learn to listen to the radio. "And I also find time to do some exercise."

Dinah grinned more widely. "The Radio is way too interested in our personal lives. And ooo, fun! Sometime you'll have to show me what kind of workout you do." She leaned back with a yawn, stretching. "Maybe I'll nap through the first half."

"It certainly is." Leto couldn't but agree on that. "And I will, if you show me what you do." He watched her, smiling, and gave her shoulders a light squeeze.

Dinah beamed back at him, wriggling with the attention, and said, "Sure! Definitely. I've got classes tomorrow, but maybe Tuesday? Before rehearsals?"

"That should work." He let go of her a little reluctantly. He was used to closeness, and Dinah's company made him feel at ease. "Have you been to study with Ghanima yet?" he asked.

Dinah suppressed a little sigh, then re-focused on his question. "Yes, and wow, that's hard. I get the point of it, and what we're trying to accomplish, but it is going to take a lot of practice to keep my concentration. I can tell that already." She bit her lip. "Your sister said you studied the same thing? It gets easier, right?"

"It does. But it's not an easy thing, so you can't expect it to be." He smiled at her. "Did she say anything else?"

"That I was doing better than she expected," Dinah smiled at that, "And to keep practicing. We're going to add on the physical training later, after I get used to this." She smiled. "I have to explain this to Peter Petrelli later. I might have passed my abilities on to him on accident."

"Passed them on?" Leto frowned. "And if Ghani said that she meant it, and you can feel proud of yourself." He gave her a light hug again, finding that he too was proud of her.

Dinah's internal glee-o-meter hit 12, but she managed to restrain that to hugging him back. Yay! And if he thought so, then maybe Miss Atreides really had been happy abou that.

"Peter gloms powers without trying. He can't control it. So he has to learn how to manage new powers when he gets around people who have them."

"Gloms?" Leto asked, frowning. "He acquires powers from others? Did you mention this to my sister?"

Dinah tried to remember if it came up, and winced. "No, I don't think I did. I was too wired to start practicing. And I guess his main power is copying other people's powers. He doesn't even know where he got some from. He can fly."

That was not going to be less impressive with time.

"Fly? By himself?" This man sounded dangerous to be around, and Leto suddenly looked worried. "Perhaps you should be careful, Dinah."

"Of Peter? But..." Dinah looked torn. "He might have caught stuff from me. I have to show him what I can do, or he'll be stuck with it going off with no warning. And flying, Leto." She thought about it a minute, then said, "Maybe not too high?"

Like, the third storey. That was okay, right?

"I didn't mean treat him badly," Leto said. "Being careful is another thing." He paused. "I can see that flying would be fascinating. I have only flown 'thopters... Still, you can't trust everyone."

Dinah nodded, a little relieved that Leto agreed with her on the first part, then blinked. "Well. Maybe not everyone. Of course not. But all the students here have been really cool. And up-front about, oh, who they are, and where they're from." She frowned a little. "You can trust people until they give you reason not to. Within reason."

"I'm sorry, Dinah." He had no right to lecture her. "Ignore what I said. But perhaps discussing this with Ghanima before you do anything might be a good thing."

Leto obviously cared that she was safe, so she didn't feel like she could reject what he was saying completely. She smiled hesitantly. "That's probably a good idea, yeah. She knows the teacher he's studying with, maybe she'll know how to explain stuff safely." This was all a lot more complicated than she was used to, when she thought about it. "I hadn't thought of that."

He smiled, relieved. "I was just concerned."

"I know." Dinah smiled at him, reassured. "Sometimes I leap before I look." She stuck her tongue out the corner of her mouth, giggling. "Usually it works out."
