Third Floor Common Room [Tuesday night]

Sookie, so far, had had very good luck with not sharing her various secrets with the world.

Clearly that had to change.

Since she wasn't particularly concerned about the honesty issues, she was curled up on the couch in the common room, watching TV and writing a letter home. She wasn't paying much attention to either, but it seemed a pleasant enough way to spend an evening.

Ha. Oh, dramatic irony.

It was likely a stupid move, going to see what was happening in the common room, but there were only so many letters home Adora could write that were brutally honest about everything happening in Fandom.

"Sookie! Please tell me whatever on the television isn't going to cause anyone to blush or whimper!" Oh, completely stupid move.

"Not that I know of. Hi, Adora!" Sookie said happily. "How are you? Your hair looks really shiny today."

She hadn't meant to say that, but at least it was nice.

"Thanks, Sookie. I use this really great thing called conditioner but it says it's supposed to be Bed Head even though I would swear it looks nothing like when I wake up in the morning," Adora rambled, smiling lightly in apology. "That was over sharing."

"Hi, Adora," Zayne said. "I haven't talked to you in way too long. I need to get out of my room more often."

"You do! I've missed seeing you around. Did Claudia's clothing cause you to go blind and lapse into a coma?" Adora winced, not meaning to be so harsh about her friends.

"What's on television tonight? I keep wanting to call it a vid screen," Zayne said, walking into the common room. He wasn't sure why he said that part.

"What's a vid screen?" she wondered. "Is it a drug thing?"

Sookie would not have asked that if not for today.

"It's what we call screens like that back home. And why do people keep talking to me about drugs?" Zayne asked.

"Vid screen sounds like retro sci fi," Claire observed. "Zayne, right?"

"Yeah," Zayne said. "You're the person who took my picture that one time. I don't remember your name, so I'm going to try to work around that until I remember. Except I guess I don't need to do that now. Sorry."

Claire emerged from her room to find dinner in the common room. "Hi, Sucky, are you really watching that?" she asked.

That ... would not have been far off from her normal greeting.

"Not really. I'm writing a letter to my best friend, except I accidentally just called her a loud-mouthed bitch in it, and I didn't mean to do that at all." Sookie frowned deeply at her page.

"I sent my brother an email going on for like 200 words about what a condom was since he seems to have forgotten," Claire said. "And then called him a fucking moron. I meant it, but ... not quite that strongly?"

Brooke was bored, so she came up from her room in search of people. "I'm bored and need more friends I don't sleep with," Brooke said, and stopped. That last part was not so much planned.

"Hi Brooke." Sookie didn't even have to mentally scan to figure out which one it was. "You can sit in here and stuff, because I promise I'll never sleep with you."

Which was true but she probably could have phrased it differently.

"That's almost insulting but I'm sort of okay with it," she said. "Though if I were into girls, you'd have some pressure. I should just go back to my room."

"Brooke!" Priestly grinned. "Aha, see, I remembered this time."

"This makes me happy, because I am very very tired of being called Jaina," she said. That part wasn't a secret. At all. "I don't like today anymore, how about you?"

"I find it weird that I know you from Master Skywalker's class and that you look like his granddaughter," Zayne said. "We haven't really met, though. I'm Zayne."

Priestly had planned to hide in his room. But then his mom had called. Confessing just about anything at this school was better than talking to his mom when he couldn't lie, and not answering the first three times she'd called had started to grate.

So he was avoiding his room and the phone.

He had a flying squirrel on his head. Ramone needed some out of the room time, too.

"Hey. Sookie, right?"

"And you're....Priestly?" she remembered, waving. "I remember you because you're like a male Claudia, with the clothes and the hair and wow I wish I had the balls to do that to my appearance."

That was kind of an embarrassing thing to say. If you were Sookie.

"Good evening, Priestly!" Adora smiled, waving a little in his direction.

Some time later, Liir snuck out from his room to try and make himself something to eat. It was rare that he was hungry but all his strangeness aside, he was still a teenage boy and thus required fueling.

He didn't know the girl who was in the room, but he gave her a friendly, somewhat tight-lipped smile before heading for the kitchen. Eventually, however, he turned and--

"Would you like anything?"

"No, thank you," Sookie said, equally hesitant to speak.

Unfortunately, that didn't last.

"I know you! We have cooking club together!"

"Liir." Oh, this would not be good. Ramone chittered from the top of his head, as if in agreement. "How's it going, man?"

Ahhhh, idle chatter. So far, so good.
