Dorm Pool, Tuesday Evening - PARTY

The day had flown by, and before she knew it, Hinata and Amber, who’d cut out of rehearsal early (small sacrifices), were down in the pool area and setting up the decorations for Turtle’s (hopefully) surprise birthday party. Streamers and balloons in gold, green, and purple matched the tablecloths, disposable plates and utensils. Colour co-ordination was a go.

It took them awhile to get things all set up, but eventually it was accomplished, and a sign at the door to the pool proclaimed ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY TURTLE!!!’ in, of course, green and gold glitter.

No, Angela really didn't know Turtle, but really, that had never stopped her from going to a party before, and it wouldn't now.

She was there, swimsuit on and a little sarong wrap around her waist. Yay, pool party!

Romeo hadn't talked to Angela in a few days, and he wasn't sure how this would go, but as he had married her it seemed only polite to at least say hello. If she made it about Hannibal, he could walk away.

So. "Hello!" he smiled. "Happy Turtle's birthday. It's good to see you again."

"Romeo," she greeted, smiling at him. "Same to you."

"You a pool party sort of guy?" Yes, avoiding those complecated topics for the moment worked quite nicely for her.

"I know Turtle, and I love to swim," came the answer from a young man who was very relieved to stay with the lighter side of things. "Grew up with it, really. You look ready to go in the water, too."

"I don't actually know the birthday girl," Angela admitted. "But this gives me a great excuse to meet her."

"That, and I'm the sort of girl that goes in for any good excuse to kick back like this."

"And it's a Tuesday," Romeo stated, smiling a little. "A good day for a party. We're past the weekend, and next Friday seems so far away."

"Turtle's ... very focused," he added thoughtfully. "Smart, too. We aren't close, but I respect her."

"I've heard her on radio," Angela said. "I'm assuming she'll be the one in the middle of the big group of people."

"That is generally the way to spot a birthday girl," Romeo had to agree, grinning. "You could look for the one in the tiara but I don't think Amber or Hinata got one for her."

"A birthday without a tiara? That's just wrong," Angela said with a little laugh.

"Then again, mine was on homecoming, so..." She shrugged. Hers had come to her that way.

"Good e-evening," she said, grinning a bit. "And thank you for coming!"

"It's a nice party, Hinata," Angela said, smiling at the other girl. "Can't think why I haven't been swimming down here before, actually."

She grinned. "Because it's all the w-way down here," she suggested, "and you g-get distracted before you make it down."

"That's probably about it," she agreed with a little laugh. "I kind of forget it's even down here."

"But that just m-makes it more fun when you do go," she laughed. "Because you don't see it s-so often."

"There is something more interesting about the places you don't get to go so often," Angela said, nodding.

"Have you been good since I last saw you?" she asked.

"I have!" she said, grinning a bit, with a wave around the room. "And e-expanding my skill set."

"Expanding your skill set?" Angela asked. "I assume you mean more than just normal classes stuff?"

"Your skirt-thing is quite adorable," Alice said, offering the other girl a bright smile.

"Aw, thank you, sweetie," Angela said, beaming back at her. "Your swimsuit is adorable, too."

"Things going okay with you?" she asked.

"Thank you," Alice said, bobbing her head. "How did you get one of those? I suppose that's a silly question, as the obvious answer would be 'in a clothing shop.' I'm quite well, and yourself?"

(zomg no problem, I joined in way late!!)

"On the cruise, actually," she said with a grin. "A store on the ship."

"And I am actually doing... really well." Angela nodded, as if that clarified the statement. "Having a pretty good couple of weeks, you know."

Alice couldn't help the flush that covered her cheeks. "I do," she confessed. "I'm doing ... quite well myself. Thoroughly improper, but that doesn't seem to diminish how very delightful my month has been."

"Oh, there's nothing wrong with being improper," Angela told her cheerfully. "In fact, I'd go so far as to say it's better that way. Long as you're enjoying it, anyway."

Oh Angela, such a great influence on the comparatively innocent.

Alice was decidedly less innocent all the time, really.

"I am," she decided. "I suppose that's why they tell individuals so strongly not to behave improperly. Once they discover how pleasant it is, that will fly out the window."

"Probably," Angela laughed. "That would definitely explain our sex ed teacher last semester." Or he was just a very proper, very prudish sort anyway. One or the other.
