Dorm Pool, Tuesday Evening - PARTY

The day had flown by, and before she knew it, Hinata and Amber, who’d cut out of rehearsal early (small sacrifices), were down in the pool area and setting up the decorations for Turtle’s (hopefully) surprise birthday party. Streamers and balloons in gold, green, and purple matched the tablecloths, disposable plates and utensils. Colour co-ordination was a go.

It took them awhile to get things all set up, but eventually it was accomplished, and a sign at the door to the pool proclaimed ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY TURTLE!!!’ in, of course, green and gold glitter.

"Arthur," she replied, turning from her inspection of the strange indoor pond. The lack of title wasn't a sign of disrespect, merely done in the name of efficiency. He knew he was a prince, and she knew, and he also knew she knew already.

"They is having an indoor pond!" she also tended to say pretty much what was on her mind at any given time.

Really, after a few months in Fandom, Arthur was depressingly used to people failing to remember and use the right modes of address. "Yes," he said, a bit dryly, but not as much as usual, and peered over at the pool, "It would seem so."

"I not know such a thing was possible," she admitted. As if her earlier exclamation hadn't given that away.

"There's a lot of things possible," he said, "I think 'indoor pond' is probably one of the most harmless ones."

A snort of laughter at that. "As long as one knows how to swim," she pointed out.

"I'm not sure my roommate does," Arthur said, "Let's hope he doesn't drown." Even if it was a faintly amusing thought.

"He have enough sense to remain far from the water's edge?" she questioned. It seemed like a logical enough course of action, but she'd met plenty here who did entirely unsensible things.

"Just about," Arthur agreed, glancing around to try and pick his roommate out of the crowd. "Thankfully."

"Good," she nodded. "Drowning might ruin festival mood," she still had no idea what it was this particular festival was celebrating, but she doubted it involved drowning, even with being held in such proximity to water.

Try as he might, Arthur couldn't repress a laugh at that. "I think it might," he said. "Unless we choose to style it a funeral."

Firekeeper looked at the array of sparkling decorations, and the food, and then back at Arthur. "A strange funeral, indeed," she commented finally.

"You know what they say. Strange funerals for strange trails," Arthur said, dryly.

Blind Seer chose that moment to let out something that could've just been a bark, or maybe a sneeze, or... possibly the wolfish equivalent of laughter.

"You sound," Firekeeper told Arthur, "much like he," she gave Blind Seer a light punch on the shoulder.

"I'll take that as a compliment."

"After a fashion," Firekeeper admitted. The spouting of proverbs, or things that sounded like they ought to be but were really just made up on the spot, was kind of endearing.

When it wasn't annoying, anyway.

"It's either that," he pointed out, "Or you're telling me that I'm hairy."

"No danger of that," Firekeeper assured him. Arthur wasn't remotely hairy. Especially not compared to a wolf!
