Dorm Pool, Tuesday Evening - PARTY

The day had flown by, and before she knew it, Hinata and Amber, who’d cut out of rehearsal early (small sacrifices), were down in the pool area and setting up the decorations for Turtle’s (hopefully) surprise birthday party. Streamers and balloons in gold, green, and purple matched the tablecloths, disposable plates and utensils. Colour co-ordination was a go.

It took them awhile to get things all set up, but eventually it was accomplished, and a sign at the door to the pool proclaimed ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY TURTLE!!!’ in, of course, green and gold glitter.

"Hannibal King," Romeo said, giving the owner of that name a dirty look. "He holds a grudge against me for something I did, and he's not letting go of it."

"I can only agree on you judgement on his manners," Leto said, frowning in Hannibal's direction. "What exactly did he do?"

"It goes back a bit," Romeo warned, matching Leto's frown. "On the cruise ship, Angela -- who is seeing Hannibal -- and I got very drunk together and decided to get married. We annulled it, nothing much happened between us, and I apologized to Hannibal, but he believes it gives him the right to call me a girl, and similar things."

He paused for breath and to see if Leto was following.

"On Friday we got more distemperate with it, he hit me, and I hit back. We exchanged words again last night. Now I think he'd half as soon kill me as look at me, if he thought he had the chance, and it's mutual."

Oh, jealousy. "He accepted your apology?" Leto said. "And calling you a girl seems mostly just unintelligent." Or a little like Arthur.

"I thought he had, but I'm not sure he said so in so many words," Romeo said thoughtfully. "It might not hurt to try it again, if I have to speak to him."

He shrugged. "He's also fond of implying I want to bed him. I've heard better insults."

Leto snorted. "How creative. It sounds like he is better ignored, unless you can challenge him."

"Better ignored, then," Romeo nodded. "Reno said as much, and I've promised not to fight him."

Also, he knew he would lose.
