Third floor common room, Monday evening

Knowing she was going to be taking another trip home, Jaina had spent most of her day handwavily prepping: flight sim, lightsaber drills (she remembered last time, thanks), and then was trying to catch up on reports in her room till her comlink finally began driving her crazy.

Knowing she was more or less going to be able to answer all those calls personally anyway, she took her datapad out to the common room to work, and after a couple minutes of silence turned on the TV for background noise.

So it was her own fault that she kept looking up surreptitiously from her work to see what was going on in the Space Battles movies. What? It was interesting.

"Tomorrow, actually, it looks like," she said. "I have some stuff I want to get done before classes start. Not enough stuff, but it's a start."

"I kind of want to ask what's going on," Tahiri admitted, and she actually looked a little crestfallen, "but it's probably a good idea if I don't."

She chewed on her lower lip for a moment, then asked, "Hey, your version of me . . . how's she doing, do you know?"

"Uh. I'm not exactly sure. I haven't seen her in a few months, and things were a little distracting," Jaina admitted. What with Jacen's return and stupid prophecy things. "I think she's still having sort of a rough time."

"Probably," Tahiri conceded. "Look, this is going to sound weird but if you see her, give her a hug? I think she needs it."

[solo_sword]

It did sound a little weird, but she doubted Tahiri would ask if she didn't mean it. "I will if I see her," she promised.

"I appreciate it. She'll probably be surprised," Tahiri said. "You will be back in time for workshops though . . . right?"

[solo_sword]

"Probably. I'm thinking it'll be short, but there's never a guarantee," she sighed.

"Just as long as you come back," Tahiri said, half under her breath.

[solo_sword]

"I do what I can there," Jaina said evenly. It was even meant non-sarcastically. Wow.

Wow indeed. "How do you manage it?" Tahiri gestured to the datapad. "Juggling all your responsibilities there with everything here, I mean. I've always wondered."

[solo_sword]

It actually took a little bit of thought. She'd never considered it like that before. "Determination?" she tried. "Hit and miss time management? I can do it if I work at it hard enough and get results. And I live on coffee most days."

"And probably a whole lot of sheer Solo stubbornness," Tahiri added with a slight smile. Which wasn't remotely an insult in her book.

[solo_sword]

"And an allergy to boredom," she nodded.

That was a lie. She loved when she could be bored lately. It just never happened.

Tahiri laughed. "Do you ever get a chance to be bored anyway?"

[solo_sword]

"It's happened." It was embarrassing how long ago. "Not lately, as it's been insane..."

[weetuskenraider]

"That explains why you haven't broken out into some weird rash or something, then," Tahiri said. "Are things done being insane yet? Oh, wait, new kids next week. Never mind."

[solo_sword]

"I want to be back for the weekend in case I'm related to anyone."

[weetuskenraider]

"Oh, great. New things to worry about."
