Third floor common room, Monday evening

Knowing she was going to be taking another trip home, Jaina had spent most of her day handwavily prepping: flight sim, lightsaber drills (she remembered last time, thanks), and then was trying to catch up on reports in her room till her comlink finally began driving her crazy.

Knowing she was more or less going to be able to answer all those calls personally anyway, she took her datapad out to the common room to work, and after a couple minutes of silence turned on the TV for background noise.

So it was her own fault that she kept looking up surreptitiously from her work to see what was going on in the Space Battles movies. What? It was interesting.

"I am here to help," Tahiri pointed out, and spared a playful look of reproach for Blind Seer. "Although you could ask Dinah, if I'm not around, or someone else."

"I rather ask you," Firekeeper admitted.

"Lucky for you," Tahiri said, "I don't mind if you do at all."

"Good," Firekeeper nodded. Though she probably would've asked Tahiri anyway even if she hadn't clarified the whole not-minding thing.

Tahiri would have clarified it anyway, because she was a smartass like that.

"I wonder what the new kids will be like?"

"Noisy. Confused. Confusing." She felt that about summed it up.

"The second one is what we're there to help with," Tahiri said. She thought it was a good summary, yes. "And hopefully that'll help with the third. The first . . . the excitement will wear off after a bit, maybe."

Firekeeper merely snorted, thinking of Dinah. She liked the girl, yes, but the excitement? Had yet to wear off, for that one.

"Are you thinking about what I think you are?" Tahiri asked, because that had occurred to her right after she'd said it, really.

"Am probably," Firekeeper had to admit, trying to smother a smile. "Though I think pu- smaller-you was talking more," she couldn't resist pointing out.

"Up until two years ago, I still did that," Tahiri pointed out, and even smiled slightly when she said it. "It's not necessarily a bad thing that the excitement doesn't wear off, now that I think about it."
