Third floor common room, Monday evening

Knowing she was going to be taking another trip home, Jaina had spent most of her day handwavily prepping: flight sim, lightsaber drills (she remembered last time, thanks), and then was trying to catch up on reports in her room till her comlink finally began driving her crazy.

Knowing she was more or less going to be able to answer all those calls personally anyway, she took her datapad out to the common room to work, and after a couple minutes of silence turned on the TV for background noise.

So it was her own fault that she kept looking up surreptitiously from her work to see what was going on in the Space Battles movies. What? It was interesting.

[It's Star Wars Day, I had to. I also felt the need to mod cable. Open CR is open!]

"You're into swoop bikes?" Tahiri asked, glad for the distraction before she complained that nothing like that lived in the desert.

"I live on Taris, the birthplace of the swoop," Zayne explained. "Swoop culture is a way of life there. Kids learn how to ride right after they can walk. It's the standard mode of transportation. And we're home to the biggest race in the swoop racing circuit."

Zayne was a massive swoop dork, much like virtually every other teenage male from Taris.

"That's out near . . ." Tahiri thought for a moment. "Ithor, isn't it?" Not that she knew anything about the Taris swoop racing scene, what with it being sort of ancient history by now.

She grinned. "You're really into swoop bikes. It shows."

"I'm not very good at hiding it, am I?" Zayne asked. "I don't know, it's just the thing to do on Taris. It's either that, gambling, drinking, or dueling."

"We don't have too many good leisure activities."

"Must be a Rim thing," Tahiri mused.

"We don't get the fancy stuff like the Core Worlds do," Zayne said.

"And when we do get it, it's only about twenty years out of date," Tahiri added.
