Main Campfire, Friday Evening

Once the sun went down, a rather spectacularly large bonfire was lit for the party. No, Merlin was not aware it was now celebrated on the first of May. Calenders change, after all.

There was even a crudely constructed maypole there in case anyone felt the need to dance around it. They did so at their own peril, of course. The mockery that may ensue would probably be great.

"I do prefer Merlin, but I suppose I could answer to that as well," Merlin replied, nodding oh so seriously.

Diana burst out laughing. "Merlin? Seriously? What were your parents thinking? Don't tell me there's an Arthur around or something!" Samuel's ears perked up.

Merlin did not look around for him. At all.

Oh, shut up, perhaps he did.

"Ha ha. Yes, something of that sort."

Diana glanced around as well. "Don't tell me - there actually is an Arthur around here somewhere?" She still found this turn of events funny.

"Well... it's not as if we're the ones everyone thinks," Merlin said, just trying to get this bit over with.

Diana nodded, working on the laughter. "Right. Of course. Are you a new kid or been around some?"

Relaxing a bit in a sort of low level resignation that came from being named Merlin here, he nodded. "I've been here since the winter."

Diana was pretty much done giggling now. "What's the weirdest thing that's happened to you?"

Suuure she was. "The weirdest? I suppose the bits with the television."

"You found the television weird?" Diana had to double-check that she heard that right.

"There were small people in a box!" Merlin said, as though this should be obvious to all.

Diana snorted. "Did they talk to you?"

"Of course not. I know they're not actually small people in a box."

Now. Now he knew.

Diana nodded, giving up looking serious. "Of course. Anything weird that's just Fandom specific?"

"Well, there was the bit with the harpies, I suppose." People had called that odd.

Of course, he was far too used to magical creatures trying to kill him or Arthur, so... SSDD.

Diana talked to Hell with multiple personality disorder. Her definition of odd was unique. "Oh? What kind?"

"...of harpies?"

Diana nodded. "What were their characteristics?"

"Feathers. And talons." A beat. "And they threw shit at you."

Diana burst out laughing. "I'm sorry to hear that."

"You're just lucky the smell went away with a few washings."

"You mean you're really lucky the smell went away with just a few washings." Diana informed him.

"I'm sure we would have gotten used to it by now."

Diana snorted. "Uh huh."

"You'd be surprised!" Merlin insisted. "Though, honestly, the best part of this place are the privvies."
