Main Campfire, Friday Evening

Once the sun went down, a rather spectacularly large bonfire was lit for the party. No, Merlin was not aware it was now celebrated on the first of May. Calenders change, after all.

There was even a crudely constructed maypole there in case anyone felt the need to dance around it. They did so at their own peril, of course. The mockery that may ensue would probably be great.

"Craft, Sexual Anthropology and Healthy Living," Angela replied. "... They really have a whole class on slacking?" That was kind of impressive, even for here.

She nodded.

"It's a little more exact than it sounds. The instructor actually seems to be interested in teaching us to avoid unnecessary work as opposed to all work, which is a cause I can get behind."

She knew work was important, that all good things came to those who did their part towards getting it. But she also knew that people liked to play games.

"I'd never really figured slacking as such an art," Angela admitted with a breath of laughter. "Everything is to someone, I guess."

"More a social science," she said thoughtfully, smiling a little.

"The professor is nice, anyway, even if he did pretend to sleep at the beginning."

"Way to make a good first impression on a class of slackers," Angela joked.

She shook her head and scrunched up her face.

"I was ready to poke him by the time he finally got up and started speaking. It's one thing to 'slack' and another to waste someone's time."

"How much of the class did her pretend to sleep for?" she asked. There was a difference between making an impact, and wasting half a class.

"Not much," she had to admit, "but I suppose I'm not the most patient person in the world."

"I don't think I could get away calling myself patient either," Angela admitted. Certainly, not around anyone who really knew her.

"So do you know what makes this different from a normal fire, other than the, er, refreshments?"

"The maypole?" Angela suggested, and shrugged. "I figure someone will end up getting drunk and trying to climb it, at the very least."

"...it doesn't particularly look climbable."

"Around here, you just don't know what people can do," Angela pointed out.

She certainly knew that to be true.

"You have a point," she could admit.
