Main Campfire, Friday Evening

Once the sun went down, a rather spectacularly large bonfire was lit for the party. No, Merlin was not aware it was now celebrated on the first of May. Calenders change, after all.

There was even a crudely constructed maypole there in case anyone felt the need to dance around it. They did so at their own peril, of course. The mockery that may ensue would probably be great.

"You like me anyway," Tahiri informed him, and nodded. "Which is good, 'cause I like you."

You'd think they'd have established this by now.

"I like you a lot," Ben said, bobbing his head, and only half because his head was feeling kind of heavy. Oooh, bobbing.

"You're my very favorite Tahiri."

"That's because I'm the best one." Tahiri was very, very sure of this, yes. And it made plenty of sense to her. "I'm the lucky one who gets a Ben."

Who was about to get a big, possibly wine-sloshy hug.

Ben loooooved wine-sloshy hugs. "You're so the best Tahiri," he agreed, leaning in to give her an equally sloshy kiss.

Ooh, wine-sloshy kisses tasted interesting. And since she wasn't sure if she liked that kind of interesting, well . . . she had to investigate a little more.

"You're the best Ben ever," she murmured against his lips.

"'n there's a lot of competition," he said, wondering what to do with the half-empty wine bottle in his other hand.

Because he was growing to really like the public displays of affection and wasn't planning on pulling away from Tahiri any time soon.

Tahiri's snort was more a sensation in the Force than an actual sound, and she trailed her fingertips down the back of Ben's neck.

"No competition. You're way . . . way . . ." Oooh, lightheaded. Maybe if she kissed him more he'd know what she was trying to say?

Ben let out a little gasp as he shivered. "...astral?" he tried, sliding his fingers along her spine.

Tahiri reached down and covered his hand, the one holding the wine bottle, with hers.

"For starters," she said, moving to trail kisses along his jawline. She'd be blushing a lot more if not for the wine.

They were totally embracing the spirit of the evening! If they knew what it was about!

Ben let out a soft whimper and pulled her a little closer.

Well, there was embracing. And spirits. And . . .

"Think I should give you that reward now?"

Tahiri wasn't completely sure what she was saying any more.

"Definitely," Ben blurted.

He had no idea what he was asking for, so that worked out nicely.

Tahiri hadn't even figured out what the reward was. But she could improvise.

She took the bottle from Ben and grinned at him, then held it to his lips. "Who needs a glass?"

She thought it was a good idea, anyway.

Ben might have been just a little too enamored by watching her drink that. "Not me," he babbled.

"Good," she said, offering him a drink. She might have had a little bit of wine at the corner of her mouth, still.

Which was what Ben went for, instead of the wine in the bottle.

Drunk logic was not normal people logic.

Drunk logic was preferable to normal people logic if you asked her. At least drunk Ben logic.

Tahiri made a happy little noise and rested her free hand against his chest, but the bottle of wine was in danger of slipping out of her grip.

Ben grabbed for the wine and then let it drop with a thunk onto the grass.

There! Less things to worry about. Ben felt Very Smart.

And now Tahiri had both hands free, and could wrap her arms around him properly. So yes, Very Smart in her book.

It vaguely occurred to her that they could be more comfortable, but that would require moving.

Ben tilted his head to nip at her earlobe. "Maybe we should...move?" he said.

Mostly because he was pretty sure his knees weren't exactly stable.

So the squeak of surprised pleasure Tahiri let out wasn't very romantic. Like she cared?

"Maybe," she agreed, hanging onto him almost as much for balance as because it was nice. "If I fall over you're coming with me so . . ."

"And we might get stepped on," he said, swaying a little.

If he was swaying, so was she. "That'd hurt," Tahiri said in a flash of brilliant insight.

"Yep," Ben said solemnly. "And not in a good way."

"There's a good way?" Tahiri asked, blinking at him; she was having issues getting her eyes to focus. Riina could have pointed out otherwise, but luckily she was quiet tonight.
