Claudia needed room to stretch out as she worked on outfits for Zayne and Zack (those poor, poor souls), so the sofa was covered in orange and purple zebra print fabric which she was industriously running through the bedazzler.

The television was on too, but just as background noise.

"Isn't it great?" Claudia enthused. "I was going to use it for a minidress for me, but my roommate only wears bathrobes and that's just wrong."

"Yeah, that's wrong," Rose agreed. "How does she feel about orange?"

"He's never really said one way or another," Claudia selectively remembered. "He let me paint the room yellow, though, so I'm sure he'll love it."

Other than the biting goldfish, this might have been the weirdest thing Rose had seen yet. "The orange and purple and sparkly is for a guy?"

Poor, poor Zayne. "Yep," Claudia said. "He's kind of a superhero-y thing at home and not on drugs."

Because that was important to note.

She held up a little bedazzled zebra print German-style hunter hat. "Cute, right?"

It was a cute hat. Just...not for a guy.

"Are superheroes usually on drugs?" Rose asked curiously. She eyed the hat. "Totally cute. It'd look better on you, and I don't even know him."

"I thought he was on drugs for saying he was from a different galaxy," Claudia said. "Because, really, that's insane."

"Totally," Rose said, flopping down on a couch. Vampires were one thing, but other galaxies were definitely weird. "There's too many of them for it to be some kind of joke. Has to be true."

"It took me a while to get that," Claudia admitted. "I thought aliens were, like, the people coming across from Mexico."

"Did you tell Worf that?" Rose asked curiously. Because she really wanted to see his reaction. "Your world's totaly normal, huh?" Other than the fashion apparently.

"Omigod, no," Claudia said. "He's scary! And my world is toooootally, mind-numbingly normal."

"He's not that bad," Rose said quickly. "I mean, he doesn't have any idea what a joke is, but he's okay."

"Do you like him?"

For Claudia, this was a logical jump.

Rose cracked up. "God, no. He's fun to spar with though."

Claudia grinned. "Good. He was totes mean to a friend of mine. Hit him a lot."

"Oh yeah?" Rose asked, looking curious. "Who was that?"

"His name was Toby and they went on a date and Toby was totes in love," Claudia babbled.

"Toby was in love with Worf," Rose repeated slowly. "And Worf - wasn't?"

"Not even when their son showed up!" Claudia cried. "It was all very tragic."

"So Worf and...Toby have a son," Rose said, and between this and the fabric choice, Claudia had to be insane. "Um. It sounds terrible. Where's Toby and the kid now?"

"The little boy--Turf or something--went back through his portal, and Toby went home after graduation," Claudia said, not thinking she sounded like a crazy person.

"Oh yeah, totally," Rose said in the tones of someone who didn't want to scare the crazy person. "Do random kids show up often?"

"Right around prom," Claudia said with a nod.

"Oh, good," Rose said. "I'll have to remember to not go."

"I don't think you pick them up on the way out or anything," Claudia said thoughtfully.
