Third Floor Common Room - Saturday Morning
Claire was still in an excellent mood after her conversation with Jon last night. She decided to pass on the trip into the city and instead headed for the common room to make breakfast in an effort to meet some new people.
Anyone making their way past the room would be welcome to enjoy some pancakes with blueberry topping, strawberry topping and/or whipped cream. Because, yes, Claire was kind of a dork and went the red, white and blue route.
There was an appropriate holiday movie on the television.

"Liir is quite fine as it's the name I've had the longest. And Makejoy is my dog. She's very sweet-natured, if you'd like to give Bruiser someone to play with.
"And I've found Hannibal and Angela both to be very kind as well, I must admit. May I pet Bruiser?"

"And I wouldn't mind holding him in the least."
He breathed out with a soft, pleased sort of sigh.
"Makejoy is a Newfoundland and she's very big, but I promise you she's exceedingly gentle. She likes playing with my friend Hinata's kitten often enough and the two never have any trouble."

"She, actually. And yes, she's very friendly. But I haven't actually seen anyone say they're allergic to dogs since I've been here, so hopefully you should--oh."
Probably for the best.
"One girl said that dogs tend not to like her, so there's that. But yes, as I said, otherwise you should be fine. I'm glad you're enjoying your time here so far."

He looked down at Bruiser, slightly amused.
"I'm doing all right, aren't I?" he asked the dog.

"I'm going to be a Junior, which is Lurline's own surprise to me as much as to anyone else, "and it would be nice to share a class, yes. As for fun, I either fly, cook, play with Makejoy, or attempt to figure out something from my books. I have to admit to being terribly boring, I'm afraid."

Yes, Elle, he'd been swearing, for all intents and purposes.
"And they do teach piloting, yes, but my brand of flying is a bit less mechanical. I use a broom.
"I'd love to try your muffins, though."

"Er, no. Generally I sit on the broom and it flies. There's not much more to it than that."

"You think I'm teasing you, don't you?" he asked with a soft smile.

"Flirting? Was I?"

"I just talk to people and enjoy their company and say things. I think there's supposed to be more to it than that. Not that you're not worth flirting with, because you are; you're exceedingly pretty and more than that, very sweet, but I'm never really sure. It's a strange concept."

"Really? You've never had a boyfriend?"
He couldn't imagine that.

"I didn't think you were picky," he told her honestly.
"I think you're absolutely right. Nothing is special unless you feel that warmth inside. And it's worth waiting for."

"I am. I've been very lucky in that respect. At least, I think so. Sometimes people have to go away, but if you enjoy the time you have with them, it's worth it."
