The Roof: Saturday Evening

Happy-shiny-upbeat music was rolling off the roof this morning and down through the dorms. Layla had taken the time to string up some old Christmas lights that she had handwavily found at Things Reborn.

Food and drink Moddable of course was spread out on a table.

And of course the entire roof was already decorated in flowers, glitter and streamers.

Layla was already out in the middle of the roof bouncing around to the music and having a grand old time of it.

Clearly the island felt there was need for a party. Layla was just rolling around with it.

Priestly stuck his tongue out at her. "Same thing!"

"Hey, no showing the tongue unless you're planning on using it!" Rose smirked. "And it's totally not."

"I'm totally planning on using it." Priestly held up his sub. "To taste my delicious sandwich."

She snickered a little. "Okay, I'll give you that. Hope it's as tasty as you expect."

"Oh, it will be. I should know, I'm the sandwich guy."

"There are worse things you could be," Rose said lightly. "What if everyone called you the banana guy?"

"Then at least I'm not the plaintain guy." Priestly waggled his eyebrows for a moment. "And it does take a little more skill than being 'hair-dye guy'."

"Cause plaintains are the short ones," she smirked. "Hair dye guy would be rhymey at least. I'd prefer blue hair group."

"But that doesn't work when my hair is green. Or red. Or purple."

"Details," she said, waving it off.

"Hey, now, details are important. What's a ham sandwich without the proper cheese?"

"Still will fill you up," Rose pointed out. "That's all that matters."

"Saying that makes me sad for you," Priestly said. "Filling you up is one thing, but that doesn't mean you can't get the best flavor out of it as possible."

"I like food," Rose protested. "But I'm not going to spend like an hour on it."

"Why not?"

"Cause I could spend the hour training or having fun?" Rose suggested.

Priestly shook his head. "Cooking is fun. And if you're using that hour properly, the end result is totally worth it."

"You can cook for me anytime," Rose teased. "But I can't even boil water."

"That," Priestly said, "is, like, the dumbest thing ever. Not knowing how to boil water means you can't even make ramen."

Rose rolled her eyes. "So I'll just eat bread. And meat. Totally not going to insult you by calling it a sandwich."

This was what happened when a girl went to boarding school from the age of 4.

"It's a fine existence, thanks," Rose said, making a face.

"You say that now, but that's because you don't know what you're missing."

"If you're so concerned, are you offering to teach me?" Rose asked, raising her eyebrows.

"I could show you some basics. But you might be better off trying stuff out for yourself."
