Third floor common room- Wednesday night

After a lot of work (some involving a showerhead, don't ask, and no not dirty) throughout the day, Jaina had decided she had to get out of her room for a while. So she'd just gone to the common room, made herself a sandwich, and started reading a report on her datapad with the TV on for noise.

Somehow she hadn't figured out that doing this was bound to distract her, and this was why she was staring at an episode of "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant", looking seriously confused, datapad forgotten, and occasionally saying things aloud like "There is something wrong with you," and "What do you mean this is a series??"

[Open like an open thing. ...I may have been dying to make this a CR post for a few weeks now. Because omgwtf SHOW.]

"Oh, hey Jaina," Hurley said, walking into the common room.

"...what are you watching?"

"Scary things, Hurley," Jaina replied. "Watch a minute, I want to see your reaction."

Hurley watched. And stared.

"...Why is this a thing? Who made this?"

"I wish I knew. I don't know who the person was who came up with this as an idea for a show, but I fear for them and their brain," Jaina said. Not that she was turning the channel.

"I miss the good old days of... other... shows," Hurley said. He wasn't the wittiest, at times.

"How you doin' and stuff?"

"Aside from horrified at the moment, not bad," she said with a shrug. "Work, school, travel. How've you been?"

"Work, school, Penelope," Hurley said. "It's pretty cool, really."

"Not a bad setup. I have to say, it's a little weird not reporting on you and Penelope every week," she said. "I kind of got used to it."

"Heh," Hurley said. "You trying out for the radio again? Cause I'd totally vote for you."

Jaina shook her head. "Noooo. I only got into it in the first place because Brooke set me up. I'll leave it to... everyone else."

"Well, you did a great job at it," Hurley said. "It'll be weird hearing someone else talk about me and Penelope." He chuckled.

"I think tryouts go on for weeks. I'm sure it'll give you plenty of time to get used to it," she pointed out.

"I guess I just prefer things staying like they do," Hurley said.

"Clowns," Rose deadpanned. "Hey Hurley."

"Hey Rose," Hurley said. "Man, shows get weird in the future."

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a 'people are freakin' idiots' thing myself," she said thoughtfully.

"That too," Hurley said. "So, uhhh, how you doin?"

"Fantastic," Rose lied said. "I know I'm never gonna get pregnant and not know it! What about you?"

"Oh, I definitely know I'm never going to get secretly pregnant," Hurley said. "Never was a worry, really."

"Right there with you," she agreed. "Mostly cause I'm not a moron so probably different reason."

"Yeah, you're like, one of the smarter people I know and stuff," Hurley said. "Definitely."

Rose cracked up. "Wow, I don't even know what to do with that much credit. But, um, thanks."

"I mean, I know I don't know you too well, but, I guess you just act... smart?" Hurley said.
