The 6th Floor, Friday Evening

Karla looked around and nodded in satisfaction. There was a big glittery banner that said "CONGRATULATIONS TAHIRI!" hung over one wall. She wasn't going to admit it, but playing the glue and glitter and paint had been a lot of fun. Though, with the residual glitter in her hair (and the occasional glittery hand print on the banner), someone might be able to tell.

There was one table completely devoted to ice cream (and wrapped in cold spells). The centerpiece was, of course, a giant ice cream cake with a frosted lightsaber on it. Karla couldn't make any guesses about how accurate it was, but there was a greyish hilt and a ~~I was tempted to say red~~ blue beam coming from the front. It was enough to get the point across, dammit. She'd had to explain to the Chilly Boulder guy what she meant by lightsaber anyway. Though he immediately knew who Ben and Tahiri were. The table wasn't entirely covered by ice cream, as Dinah had mentioned bringing some, too.

It's possible that there may be an ice cream shortage at Chilly Boulder tonight. Sorry.

In the kitchen, there was even more food; this time covered in warming spells. Mostly there were pizzas with a variety of toppings, but she'd also gotten some sides from most of the other restaurants in town. Someone wanted to have pizza with a side of lobster bisque and quesadillas? Totally not a problem. There were also a variety of drinks and, stashed away in the fridge, a few steaks and a chicken--raw, of course--for Blind Seer.

As far as she could tell, everything was done. And if not...well, they could cope. Now the only thing to do was wait for the guests to arrive.

...and try not to cut into the cake before they arrived. It did look good.

What it says. Yes, it deserves its own thread. You've met Ben and Tahiri, haven't you? Admire the cake.

Actually, forget admiration. Just eat.

The ice cream lightsaber didn't look much like Tahiri's, but it was impressive nonetheless. It seemed wrong to eat that cake somehow . . . at least until someone else took a piece first.

She'd just stare at it in awe for a while.

"That is seriously astral," Ben said, eyes wide.

"And I thought we'd seen all the cakes they could make in there by now," Tahiri added, still staring.

"Me too," Ben said. "This insane!" He grinned. "We might need another for some Friday night."

"Maybe I should get you one of these. It doesn't seem fair that I got a party and you didn't." Tahiri reached for his hand, to give his fingers a quick squeeze. "I almost don't want to cut it."

"Too bad the lightsabers are in the weapons locker," Ben said, "because that would be astral." He grinned. "And I didn't need a party."

"I didn't need one either," she argued, not actually arguing. "And I think that'd melt the cake too much. Though it would be astral."

"Like you really want to get in the way of Karla with an idea in her head," Ben said, laughing. "And I suppose the cake would get kind of melty, and that would be a waste of ice cream."

Excellent priorities, Ben.

"I know better than to argue with her." Tahiri rolled her eyes affectionately. "You would think about it that way."

He leaned in to kiss her cheek. "Someone has to look out for the poor, defenseless cake."

"And who better to do that than Ben Skywalker, noble defender of ice cream everywhere?" she laughed.

"Everyone needs to have a job," he said with a grin. "This is mine."

"Defending the ice cream until it's time for you to eat it, yeah." Tahiri laughed. "And you're very dedicated to your job."

"Think I should form my own Jedi branch for it?" he replied.

Tahiri pretended to consider this very seriously. "Can I join?"

"I think that can be arranged," Ben said, leaning in to kiss her.

Tahiri wrapped an arm around his neck briefly while she kissed him.

"Do we get special robes?"

"Of course," Ben said. "I'm tired of tans and blacks anyway."

"As long as I don't have to wear pink or anything like that." Tahiri gave him a look that said she hadn't forgotten the pink-ribbons threat.

"No pink," Ben assured her. "Greens, maybe."

"Green is more my color," Tahiri said, looking down at her jumpsuit. "Wouldn't look bad on you, either," she added, looking at him thoughtfully.

Since everything Ben owned was in tans and blacks, he blushed. "You think?"

Tahiri would probably think he'd look pretty good in pink, actually. Not that she'd suggest it. "Sure. A nice dark one, with your hair? It'd be nice."

"This is why I only wear jumpsuits or Jedi uniforms," he said. "I've never spent a moment of my life wondering if something would look good on me."
