The Roof, late Saturday Afternoon

Raven had spent a great deal of the day watching the snow fall outside her window before making her way up to the roof for a better view. The pristine blanket of white that covered the island took her breath away -- as did the drop in temperature. But for now, the view and the still heavily-falling snow dazzled her more than the cold bothered her, and she was so enchanted by her first sight of snow that soon she was spinning in circles, arms outstretched, catching snowflakes on her fingers and tongue.

It would get old. Eventually.

Hayley had come up to the roof, just because she liked the roof and had returned from her visit out to town.

"...havin' fun there?" she commented, grinning.

"Snow is so beautiful, Hayley," Raven smiled, dizzy from spinning.

"Well, when it's fallin', sure," Hayley said. "But it sure can get ugly fast, on the ground."

"But look," Raven said, swinging one arm out toward the Preserve. "It is not ugly at all."

"Oh, well, out here," Hayley said. "You never seen a Gotham winter."

Raven shook her head. "And my mother never spoke much of her home."

"Well, it's a city. With cars and sewage and dirt, ya know? The snow can't hide that," Hayley said.

"Not even for a little while?" Raven said, frowning a little. Azarath was beautiful, and Fandom was lovely as well, so it was hard to imagine living in place that was ugly.

"Well, maybe out in the suburbs," Hayley said. "The rich neighborhoods... not where I lived."

Jaime had a similar idea: get out onto the roof for a better view, but his reaction was a bit different from Raven's. As soon as he stepped out and the cold hit him, his eyes widened in shock.

"It's cold out here!" he exclaimed, clearly not happy. And the wind didn't help either.

"Is it not beautiful?" Raven said happily, still spinning.

"I can't tell," Jaime's whine was mostly playful. "My eyes are frozen."

Raven stopped twirling and wobbled, trying to keep her balance. "Do you need me to heal them?" she teased.

At the little wobble Jaime managed to walk farther out onto the roof in case Raven needed a hand. "Does this healing involve cake? Or, better yet, hot chocolate?"

"My head is still spinning," Raven said, pressing a hand to her forehead. "But would not you prefer your eyes to be frozen so that you would be blind and people bring you cake?"

"Hmm..." Jaime said thoughtfully. "You make an excellent point. But blindness might be a bit too extreme just for some cake..."

"Then I shall heal your eyes so you retain your sight," Raven promised. "But the only cake I have at the moment is made of snow."

"Which sounds cold," Jaime complained with a grin.

"...It's winter, d'uh," Hayley teased.

"This isn't winter, this is the Ice Age!" Jaime was definitely from El Paso.

"Gee, maybe you should get a scarf," Hayley said. "If you're gonna be so wussy about it."

She grinned, it was just friendly teasing.

"I don't even own a scarf," Jaime objected a bit ruefully. And his "heavy" winter jacket wasn't really that heavy.

"Well, now you know what to ask Santa for, silly," Hayley said.

"I don't know if I'd trust Santa's taste in scarves."

"Why not? What did Santa ever do to you?" Hayley asked, crossing her arms and trying to look serious.
