Fifth Floor Common Room [Saturday morning]

Sookie was a little surprised this morning -- obviously, since the future-children had been to visit already, it wasn't going to happen again. But when she had woken up still seventeen (still prom queen!) and found Bobby decidedly...smaller, and younger by about ten years, she could've been knocked over by a feather.

That being said, it hadn't taken long for her to realize the only course of action. And so Sookie, in her pajamas (and Bobby, somehow in little-boy pajamas that featured penguins driving racecars) padded out to the common room to start making pancakes. Somewhere along the way, she'd added a few healthier foods to her plan, too, and had turned on some cartoons, but pancakes were definitely the endgame here.

It had worked for the other little kids, after all.

[COMMON ROOM IS OPEN YAY WEETINIES OMG]

Raven laughed and reached out a hand to straighten the crown. "Where did you get that?" she teased, though she of course knew very well where it had come from. "Should I be referring to you as your highness?"

[And I must work tomorrow so I should sleep soon, too. Night! <3 ]

"It was by my bed," Jono replied, perhaps a touch defensively. "So it's okay that I wear it. I'm not going to break it, either."

He looked at her stubbornly for a moment, and then sat himself down on the floor and reached out to pet Joni. The proper way, and everything!

"And you don't have to call me that. But you can call me Jon, if you like..."

He liked being called Jon. It made him feel like a grownup.

"Jon, not Jono?" Raven said, tilting her head curiously. "If that is what you wish, I will certainly call you that."

She was loving this glimpse of Jono as a child, though she had to restrain herself from squishing him with hugs. He was accepting the strange lady who wanted to feed him well enough, but hugs might be pushing it.

"And the crown suits you," she added. "You deserve it."

"Jono's okay, too," he decided, because he was easygoing like that. "Sounds like Bono."

Which immediately made it awesome. But not as awesome as Jon. Big kids totally didn't go by Jono.

He adjusted his crown again, and broke into a big, silly grin. "Do you really think it suits me? I've never had one before."

"It makes you look" -- adorable was probably not the correct answer here, not for a little boy -- "very dashing," she said. "Brave and strong like King Arthur."

She wasn't going to mention that she'd met Arthur, at least a version of him. She had a feeling he would think she was crazy.

Why should he? Arthur was totally real! And time travel was... not so unheard of, really. He might think she was fibbing, though. Fibbing happened.

"Great-Granddad tells me that I'm very strong, too," he shared, getting bored with petting the kitty and settling for just sitting and carrying on an animated conversation with the weird girl. "He says I have enough power in me to level Her Magesty's royal fleet." Pause. "Whatever that's s'posed to mean."

Clearly, Jono thought that Jack Starsmore was getting a bit senile, these days.

"That is a lot of power," Raven said, biting back another frown. She almost wished there was a way to warn him of what was to come, but would that really change anything?

"What would you do with that kind of power, if you had it?" she asked, trying to cover up her unease.

"I don't know," Jono admitted, giving a thoughtful little frown of his own. "I never thought about it, I guess. Maybe I would just keep pretending I'm normal anyhow. Lots of superheroes do that, with secret identities and things, right? Only I wouldn't have to be a hero and I could ride in the motocross and play music and things instead."

All the best of luck with that, little guy.

Oh, Jono. You were going to make Raven's heart break, weren't you?

"What is motocross?" she had to ask. That was the second time he'd used the term, and she didn't have any idea what that was.

"Motorbikes," Jono explained, as if everyone should know these things. "I'm gonna get my own motorbike and I'll race it better than anybody can, ever, and everyone'll know me all across th'world."

Jono didn't dream small, here.

"That sounds dangerous," Raven said, because she was Raven. "Could you be hurt doing such a thing?"

Jono had never mentioned motorbikes to her that she could recall; she wondered now if he'd lost interest in such a thing growing up, or if he'd given up on that youthful dream after his powers had manifested.

"Real bad," Jono agreed, sounding entirely too chipper about that fact. "'Specially because it's all done on rough terrain, and there are scores of people riding th'track all at once. But that's why I'm gonna be th'best at it. So that I don't get hurt and break all my arms and legs and things."

... It made sense to Jono, who had given up a lot of dreams when his powers had manifested, really.

All of them.

"You must practice a great deal then, to be the best," Raven said.

She wasn't going to fret about something that wasn't going to happen. Much. Shhh.

"And wear a helmet," she added.
furnaceface: (Weetiny - Bitchplz)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2011-04-18 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, of course I'll wear a helmet, because it's th'rules," Jono said, and it was only the fact that she knew what a helmet was at all that kept him from adding a duh to the end of that.

He was such a charming little boy.

"And I'll get a good leather jacket too, t'protect my arms and things."
