Outside the Dorms, Very Very Late Monday Evening/Too Early Tuesday Morning

It was raining.

It was not raining very hard, but it was definitely raining at the insane time the sirens went off across the school. The lawn outside was slowly but surely turning into a wet mess, and the grass was just high enough in some places that it might leave wet splotches on an unsuspecting passer-by's pants.

Clearly this was a great time for a fire drill.

It was clearly also a great time to test the new volume on the sirens, which blared even harder than they had ever done before. Hope you didn't have to take any tests in the morning, kids!

Tony hadn't actually gone to sleep, so he was still dressed as he made his way outside. And had promptly found a spot to sit down to work at his laptop.

No, he hadn't actually noticed the rain yet. Tony. Seriously.

He was just lucky that his tech was good to survive some pretty harsh elements.

Topher hesitated before awkwardly approaching Tony, because a.) shirtless and b.) awkward, but when he did he was opting for hand-wringing instead of shielding his chest, which was... probably not the best choice there.

"Is your, um, your laptop okay like that?"

"Hmmm?" Tony looked up from the screen with a confused little frown. "Okay like wh--when did it start raining?"

"I think before the alarms went off?" Topher said helpfully. "I heard it on my A/C like an hour ago."

Rhetorical question, Topher.

"Oh." Tony looked back at the computer. "Waterproofing worked."

Yes, we can tell.

Topher could think of a lot of things to say to that, but ultimately he settled on a slightly awkward "Cool."

He hesitated for a minute, them added, "You should, um, show me sometime. So I can do mine."

Tony rubbed at his eyes, wiping away some of the water that had run into them. "Yeah, sure," he said around a yawn.

Right. Stupid o'clock in the morning.

"Want me to leave you alone?"

"I don't know, Topher. Do you want to?" Someone was a little too tired to be polite, it seemed.

"Um." Topher really hadn't anticipated that sharp a response. "...Yes."

Oh god, Topher.

"...Bye."
