Outside the Dorms, Very Very Late Monday Evening/Too Early Tuesday Morning

It was raining.

It was not raining very hard, but it was definitely raining at the insane time the sirens went off across the school. The lawn outside was slowly but surely turning into a wet mess, and the grass was just high enough in some places that it might leave wet splotches on an unsuspecting passer-by's pants.

Clearly this was a great time for a fire drill.

It was clearly also a great time to test the new volume on the sirens, which blared even harder than they had ever done before. Hope you didn't have to take any tests in the morning, kids!

"I do that." They just weren't big smiles. "Mission accomplished?"

"Nice try," Atton replied. "You're lucky I'm feeling as miserable as you look."

"Or what?" she countered. "And you're projecting. I'm not miserable at all, just tired."

"Tired, wet," Atton said, "If you're not miserable, I'm going to wonder about your sanity."

Sia pulled her cloak tighter around her. "Don't worry about my sanity, just remember that I like to be prepared when leaving the building in the middle of the night."

"You think I came down here like this on purpose?" Atton asked, staring at her. "I thought the building was on fire!"

And as it turned out in case of a fire, Atton's priorities laid with a) his jacket and b) himself. In that order.

"Did you sleep in your jacket?" she asked.

[suitably_heroic]

"Not if I can at all avoid it," Atton said, "And with the warm bed, it hasn't been a problem. Why?"

Because you were wearing it now, Atton.

"Well, you seem to have grabbed it and worn it down here..."

"It was near the door!"

[notconflicted]

"Mm hm," she nodded.

"Oh, go sit on a rocket," he grumbled.

Sia grinned. "You're right, I can feel my character increasing."
