Second Floor Common Room, Monday After Classes

There were two reasons for the party being organized in the second floor common room tonight. The official one was that Sparkle and Alana were both campaigning for seats on the Student Council and needed to get their names out there.

The less official one was that Minako's fifth floor party the week before had been amazing, and the hosts wanted to prove other floors could host something just about as awesome.

Other than the VOTE FOR ALANA and VOTE FOR SPARKLE posters taped to the walls, the set-up was standard for a dorm party. They'd filled a table with pizza and snacks (including, at Sparkle's insistence, homemade sparkler-topped cupcakes), and Alana had set up her tablet to play a mix of trancey pop music. The electronica battled for ear space with an intentionally campy sci-fi movie playing on the TV.

Everyone in the student body had gotten an emailed invitation, so now it was just a matter of seeing who would show up.

"Thanks," Alana said, then went into candidate mode to answer the question.

"If you voted for me, you'd get a StuCo rep who will work hard to promote diversity and inclusion at Fandom. I did it last year and we had some great dances and other events. But" -- and here she sounded more like her usual self -- "only juniors get the privilege. Sparkle's a senior, though."

"Fine. I'll vote for him," Barry said with a sigh. "Though if you want I'll pay off a bunch of juniors to vote for you."

"Sure," Alana said. "What kind of bribes are we talking about?"

"Booze? Candy?" Barry suggested. "Really I think anything would work."

"Stick to the candy," Alana suggested. "Nobody complains about sugar. Besides, how lame would it be to get kicked off the ballot for trying to bribe people with booze?"

"I'd argue that if they have teachers who make you sort drugs and porn that giving booze is nothing compared to that," Barry said with a laugh.

"Yeah, but it's different for grown-ups," Alana argued in return. "They never have as many rules as kids."
